Started with just one, in a ChiCom land far, far away...

Can't find it now, but last I read the people who are paid to think about such things think it started with more than one, but multiple animal (Likely bat) to human transmissions at that lovely infamous wet market in Wuhan, China.

I know I'm being persnippety, just wanted to point that out...

Needed some items from Walgreens and wally wurld and Aldi. So went to West Plains Mo yesterday. All 3 retailers were in -fair to good shape. The pills-non prescription-are readily available at Walgreens. wally wurld had the othe-n p-pills i needed along withother stuff. The mailk shelves and the beer shelves at W W Good shape. The dry cereral aisle on the other hand leaves lots too be desired. Aldi had everything i was lookin for including green tea and the chips i prefer. In fact all 3 retailers parking lots were easy peasy.
This next paragraph is STILL Bothering me. A young man-mid 20s early 30s-i was at the time wearing my Navy Nam Vet ball cap-wanted to shake my hand and thank me for my Service. Sadly and with great restraint on my part I declined the hand shake.   Lips Sealed That was the FIRST time i can recall declining a hand shake offered by a stranger who Truly wanted to thank me for My Service. I replied while i would normally be Happy to shake hands with you we ARE in Very perilous times. I also added as i usually do-Please THANK the 58000+ who DID NOT come home.  Cry The young man said he understood but i on the other hand am still processing this. As i post this my eyes are indeed damp again. What in hell has been unleashed on our World?
And B T W-did not check the t p aisle as i still have a fair supply. RIDE SAFE.

Pandemic Is Accelerating

"The pandemic is accelerating," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told journalists in a virtual news briefing, saying "it took 67 days from the first reported case to reach the first 100,000 cases, 11 days for the second 100,000 cases and just four days for the third 100,000 cases."

Exponential acceleration.

Exclusive: Inside The Military's Top Secret Plans If Coronavirus Cripples the Government

https://www.newsweek.com/exclusive-inside-militarys-top-secret-plans-if-coronavirus-cripples-government-1492878?fbclid=IwAR1_uCEhHuuIu65j9B5jR7ZosET58lQ7LbqtIaPMNptq25UjjxbdoNJ0Qjs

Mission essential in this regard applies to the maze of more than a dozen different secret assignments, most of them falling under three larger contingency plans:

CONPLAN 3400, or the military's plan for "homeland defense," if America itself is a battlefield.
CONPLAN 3500, "defense support of civil authorities," where the military assists in an emergency short of armed attack on the nation.
CONPLAN 3600, military operations in the National Capital Region and continuation of government, under which the most-secret plans to support continuity are nested.

All of these plans are the responsibility of U.S. Northern Command (or NORTHCOM), the homeland defense military authority created after 9/11. Air Force General O'Shaughnessy is NORTHCOM's Colorado Springs-based commander.

On February 1, Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper signed orders directing NORTHCOM to execute nationwide pandemic plans. Secretly, he signed Warning Orders (the WARNORD as it's called) alerting NORTHCOM and a host of east coast units to "prepare to deploy" in support of potential extraordinary missions.

National Guard just deployed to all US States and territories.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/23/politics/esper-pentagon-military-limits/index.html

Esper says military 'can't meet everybody's needs' as coronavirus outbreak escalates

"I've spoken with seven, eight, nine, 10 governors so far. Each one of them has had requests for field hospitals. Those who have been along the coastline have talked about the need for ships, so we clearly can't meet everybody's needs with what we have in our inventory so we rely on (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) to do the assessment, validation and then the prioritization," Esper said.
Esper said he has ordered five expeditionary medical facilities to prepare to deploy, though the location of those deployments will depend on guidance from FEMA.

So its not a one time deal. I guess we are not supposed to know the facts or ask questions.

Both have had an influx of returning residents that might have re-seeded the COVID-19 virus back into the populations, but until the mechanism for these second waves are known, social distancing and closed borders are apparently back in effect.

To anyone that still thinks this is just a cold or the flu:

"At the Palacio de Hielo ice skating rink-turned-makeshift-morgue on the outskirts of Madrid, security forces guarded the premises as funeral vans entered the building via an underground car park. Madrid authorities took up the rink’s offer after the city’s municipal funeral service said it could take no more coronavirus victims until it restocked with more protective equipment.

The city government said bodies would be held at the rink until they can be taken to be cremated or buried."

They're stacking bodies up on ice rinks because the morgue can't handle any more yet.

Some of the ones who are saying this is just the same as the flu are also anti-vaxxers...so yeah, tells you all you need to know.

Young, old, rich, poor...   This cursed virus doesn't care.

25-year-old NJ coronavirus patient airlifted to University of Pennsylvania for clinical trial

“This happens to really healthy young people,” Jack’s emotionally drained mother, Genny Allard, told PIX11 Tuesday by phone.

“He doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t have pre-existing conditions, he was a two-time, All American lacrosse player at Bates College. I don’t think he’s missed a day of work in a year at Bank of America,” she said.

Prayers to Jack Allard.   Sure hope this drug helps him.

IMHO, they could forgive our $1.07 trilion debt for starters...

Stefanik wants China to pay for coronavirus damage

https://www.adirondackdailyenterprise.com/news/local-news/2020/03/stefanik-wants-china-to-pay-for-coronavirus-damage/

“The Communist government of China knowingly withheld critical information needed to combat the spread of the Chinese-born COVID-19 and to this day continues to spread lies and disinformation on the origin of the deadly virus,” Stefanik wrote in a press release. “There is no doubt that China’s unconscionable decision to orchestrate an elaborate coverup of the wide-ranging and deadly implications of coronavirus led to the death of thousands of people, including hundreds of Americans, and climbing. This Resolution calls for China to provide compensation for the harm, loss and destruction their arrogance brought upon the rest of the world. Simply put — China must, and will, be held accountable.”

wish me luck heading into work today after taking yesterday off.  I better not speed and get pulled over asking me where I am going.  According to WI ESSENTIAL guidelines, my company is NOT ESSENTIAL and therefore all should stay at home.  My bosses deem my job ESSENTIAL so will see how it goes the next 3 days.

I told both boss and bosses boss since suppose to go thru April 24th order to stay home in WI that after month end being this Friday I am staying HOME and doing what I can on the eqmt. they provide me taking it home and if not all get done since need a printer, oh well, needing to print (unable to do to .pdf in their outdated 1970s system still)

biggest issue is they want me to come in to babysit the other slower coworker since she incompetent to work all day long by herself without getting lost or unable to do certain things without help from me or the ohter semi-retired lady.  I say that is their problem should have been dealt with 2 years ago since she has been at work twice as long as me over 3 years now.

Plus,  both my coworkers do NOT have home internet and therefore neither of my coworkers doing same jobs cannot work from home.  I say yet again that is the bosses problem deal with it.  Are they going to pay for my 4K deductible if I get sick at work with few coming in?  Are they going to pay my 30 days jail time or 250 fine if get stopped for non ESSENTIAL jobs?

Prince Charles has it.

He hasn't seen the Queen since March 12th, but if he was contagious then, and if she has it, at 92, the UK could have a big morale hit right when they need it least.

Hoping they don't have a "London Bridge is Down" event right now.

(Little off topic but since most of us have time on our hands, the protocol for when that happens is pretty interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-u5nd2GqNE )
