Saturday it poured and wild winds. Power flickered a few times but the lights stayed on.

Sunday, at dawn, the ice and snow was mostly off the driveway, so I uncovered the bmw and put it on the bmw charger.   Then went to mom at 8 to do her chores.  She had a procedure during the week and could not get out herself to do any shopping or whatnot.

Got home by 2pm, unhooked the bmw charger and started the bike which sits surrounded by what is left of the ice and snow and let it warm up a spell.

Then started the 99 red Valk which sits in the unheated garage with the 01 and moved it into the driveway so Bonnie would not be bothered by the exhaust
(her office is next to the garage).

Apparently, I did not move it far enough so I got the order to "take that bike for a ride damnit
it stinks in here"

Who am I to argue? Put on the old Killamanjaro jacket over my shirt and went down the road to the Shell station, put 3 gallons in and took off for a local ride.

Did not go maybe 10 miles then back to start old reliable 01 Valk.   Took it for a bit longer ride down the local roads then back home

But at least I was able to get out in the wind of a 44 degree afternoon for a bit

That counts. I need to ride both my bikes, the black bike has just been
sitting there since I put a new tire on and washed it...

Once it started snowing so I pushed the bike out took a picture of it with snow. Then started it and rode to the end of the driveway so I can now say I rode in snow in Florida.

Yours counts

I skipped out of work a hair early Friday and rode about 40 miles round trip around the corner of the Dallas metromess. A local beverage store's website said they had some Octomore in stock so that was as good an excuse as any to hop on the bike; it was low 60's and sunny. Even here in The Republic we don't always have days like that in January!

They didn't actually have any Octomore in stock, but it was worth the ride anyway!

If I do some brake work or have to refit a wheel after tire renewal a ride down my drive, along the street a short way, U turn and home will make me smile.

Helmetless!!! The only time I do that.

Yeah, yeah I know. Most accidents happen within 5 miles of home.

During the warmer months 100 miles or less is considered a very short ride.  This time of year what ever I can do in a hour is short ride.

My last ride was the 12/31.  Some 60 miles.   I was going to go out yesterday as recent 24 hours of rain (yes rain) has removed the ice/snow pack on neighborhood roads and the main roads on the flats.  But just as I was gearing up, a big cell came in an rained a bunch more.  Maybe Friday or Saturday.  Maybe.

8 seconds can be a helluva ride. Grin

Yesterday took the IS out for a 20 mile jaunt to let it breathe and the tires to round out after sitting for about three weeks with the snow and ice making it non-navigable around here.  A window of heaven for a half an hour.  Today?  2-4" snowfall and probably another two week shutdown at hand in western Colorado.

I mentioned to Kali that we're now fully booked for Inzane, but gently reminded her she needs to ride a lot between now and then if she wants to ride the Standard instead of ride the back seat of the Interstate.....

Few minutes I noticed motion on one of my security cams, she was backing the Standard out for the 11 mile ride to swim practice..... (In rush hour.)

I was tracking her via her phone the whole time, a nervous wreck; she hadn't ridden in quite a while.....

But..... a ride is a ride!

As well all should know. Practice, practice, practice. And then some more.
