My Lady and I are going to Palm Desert California for a ten day visit. She has a friend with a home there. We'll base from that place, then go on short trips. We'll be flying from Toronto directly to San Diego, then take rental car north to destination.

My question is, could you suggest some tourist and wild places, that we could easily travel to.

Thank you.

Palm Desert is relatively close to Joshua Tree National Park.

For an idea of how it looks:

Do you have a Valkyrie or did you ever. If so than Amboy should be on your visit list. The panty and bra trees are just to the east of Amboy.

Desert Hot Springs for a good soak and a respite from the Toronto winter may be relaxing.  Close to Joshua Tree.
Maybe rent a desert buggy and hit some dunes at sunrise to sunset, pretty desert lighting if the weather is primo. cooldude

Take the Tramway, 2300 feet to 8500 and probably snow at the top in the San Jacinto Mtns.   Joshua Tree National Park is highly advised.  Just north of Yucca Valley is an old western town called Pioneertown, made famous by Roy Rogers and Gene Autrey where some westerns were filmed.  Plenty of Casinos.  Salton Sea, not sure if it still stinks close to the water, this time of year might be better.  Also the Living Desert Wildlife Botanical park just up the hill in Palm Desert where I use to live, with mountain lions, big horn sheep and hundreds of native and non native wildlife.

There are two locations where Eagle Rider rents Harleys. One location rents yamahas and BMWs also.  Go explore.  Take hwy 74 up the mountain to Idylwild or a host of many places.

Have a great time.  I am envious, especially this time of year, as Feb., March, and April are the best.

Rent a bike...first look at Big Bear Lake on google maps...When I am out there I rent a bike and ride the roads around BBL....I usually stay in Palm Springs...

Enjoyable two up riding...some nice places to grab a bite as well...
