I saw a clip of Chris Mathews saying he is still looking for more more candidates. He stated he didn’t think anyone currently in the race can beat Trump in the general election. I concur with his assessment but still was surprised at the revelation. Of course his track record in the last Presidential election was way off the mark so it doesn’t mean too much I suppose.

Sometimes I think if Trump were anything other than a white/Caucasian male with the performance he has managed to accomplish amid all the roadblocks and people trying to trip him up it would be a no contest race.

How do guys and gals feel?

Mostly with their hands.  (at least that's what I seem to remember)

-sorry

(And if Trump was a green fellow, three feet tall, from Mars, with his track and performance record, I'd vote for him as many times as they'd let me.)

Matthews is correct. No one in the current Democrat Presidential field is a real or even serious Presidential choice. I believe I've posted such previously. None are really a dynamic choice and I still don't believe the Democrat nominee is on the radar screen yet. It will end up in a brokered convention and we'll see then.

I believe the Democrat's problem is/was Obama. In 2008 they had a choice of Hillary or Obama. They went with Obama, a Junior Senator from Illinois. The Democrats thought they would get an African American in and two terms later Hillary would follow in the Presidency. Obviously that didn't happen. But if they would have nominated Hillary for 2008 she would have likely won then.

Most of the corruption issues of the time would have been said to have been adjudicated under Bill Clinton.  She would not have had the toxic corruption issues that she has now. There are many but particularly the treatment of Sanders in the 2016 run. Had she won in 2008 she would have likely had 2 terms barring any political disaster and Obama would be the current President.

So ultimately the Democrats just didn't invest in anyone else for this position in the last decade. And it shows.

Can't know.  We've got news people saying they don't think the Democrats have anyone who can beat President Trump in the general election and we've got leftists claiming that over half the population wants President Trump removed from office.

The Democrats are presenting no one I would vote for.  There are though a large number who will vote for whomever the Democrats put up.  There are also a number who will simply vote for whomever the "news" media tells them is the better candidate.  I think we need to be careful not to underestimate.

I agree that nearing the time of the Democrat convention a move will be made to present a new candidate, possibly Hillary Clinton.
