Here in the land o’ cheese we are having a State Supreme Court primary election on Feb 18. This is a non-partisan election, the two highest vote getters move on to the final election in April. As usual on an odd time election, voter turnout is expected to be low. To make it even worse, I have heard not one ad for any of the candidates running. I know there are three candidates, two liberal and one conservative (rule of law). I tried to pull up the three candidates profiles this morning and surprise, surprise, Google only found two possible candidates, both somewhat left of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It took a bit of digging to find the third candidate, incumbent Justice Dan Kelly, the rule of law candidate. I always knew that Google supported the left but to actually suppress information about a conservative candidate is to me beyond the pale.

I for one, am now on a search for a new search engine as well as attempting to remove Google from my online life. It is surprising how many of their services I use on a daily basis especially with an Android phone. (Not that the other operating system offers any better privacy.) It was interesting that when I tried the same search in DuckDuckGo, all three candidates appeared.

Rant over.

I switched to DuckDuckGo some years ago (I forget when).  I think I heard about it from Kim Komado.

On occasion, I do similar searches using DuckDuckGo and Goggle.  The differences are interesting.

Problem is that Goggle is everywhere. Search engines, Facebook, there is s site called Linkedin that is also Goggle related.

I googled the election, the first result had info on all 3 candidates, 2nd result was about the liberal side, 3rd was about the conservative side and the 4th had info on all 3 candidates.
