It's not what you say you do that counts.....

I recently purchased a book called, "Weird Michigan", by Linda S Godfrey.  It has a number of interesting, unusual, and just plain odd places to visit in Michigan, everything from haunted roads to man-made oddities.  Many are located in Northern Michigan, and many can be seen on the way up to Inzane.

In the next few months, I am going to attempt to highlight them for you.  I am not much in the way of writing, so reading the pages from the book will be best, assuming they scan well enough to read.

The first one, is regarding a road that has already been mentioned by Momz (see his post dated November 19, 200) regarding M-119.  This road is known as the "Tunnel of Trees".  It stretches roughly 20 miles, with hairpin curves, hills, etc., and is a joy to cruise.  As it turns out, this road has a history of adventure, intrigue, and mystery.  Along the road is a Jesuit Church, and tribal cemetery.  It is the sight where the British and local tribes signed a treaty to fight against the Americans, during the revolution.

On one section, there is a hairpin curve called the Devils Elbow.  Here, the indian tribes believe the Thunderbird Spirits battled the Panther Spirits.  Strange occurences continue to happen on the road to this day.  Read the attached article and enjoy!!

You have a great idea!  Many states have the same "Weird......." books in publication.  I have to admit I did not think of that as a reference tool for riding adventures.  GREAT IDEA!!!!

Another book or books to consider is a series from an author named William Murphy. His titles include Motorcycling in Michigan, Motorcycling in Ohio, Indianna, and Wisconsin. These books are loaded with tons of information and many suggested routes. I am talking with him early next year. He is interested in participating at INZANE in some way!

I have William Murphy's Indiana, Michigan, & Ohio books. Excellent reading on a cold Winter day. I plan on making use of some of the tours next Summer.

I was reading the book the other day and thought it is time to add another curiosity.  There is a Dinosaur Gardens located on the eastern shores in Ossineke, Michigan.  Located roughly 112 miles from Ground Zero, it features dinosaurs, some that you can actually walk inside.

And the really good part is you will be passing through Timbr and Chili's home town of Gaylord on your way to the oddity.........

Maybe a crash at his place is in order??????......Boigers anyone????
