While feeling around for a dropped nut for the sway bar to frame bushing bracket on my '06 Chrysler Town & Country, I found this loose sitting on subframe piece under the steering rack and sway bar.  I don't know if this is a part that a mechanic dropped and couldn't find so he had to replace it with a new one, or whether it got picked up off the road by a tire and ended up where it did.  I've posted the picture and the part dimensions (Ø12mm x 85mm) on a Chrysler minivan tech board, but they're baffled, so I suspect this pin is from something else.  The little hole is the only hole, and it goes completely through the pin.  Anyone recognize it?

Solid? It’s not showing any signs of wear anywhere on it. Was it greasy?

Well, when you buy a Chrysler, you get the shaft.  Grin

Seriously, though, I was a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep tech for over a decade. I think you picked that up on the road somewhere. I've found all sorts of random crap hanging out on subframes over the years.

I think that is probably a locating pin used during assembly when mating the subframe to the unibody.

Not ever having had a transmission apart, that could be why it didn't look familiar to me.  And since my van shifts and transmits power fine, I'll assume it came from someone else's transmission.

it if is that part, it is a part of the linkage outside of the transmission which shifts the trans from the passenger compartment.

Now we're on the right track!

That part has nothing to do with trains so, get off the frigg'n track...
