I found a link to honda paint codes on this web site but want to check with someone to be sure. To me its a burgandy or maroon and cream color. Is that the Pearl Dark Red & Ivory that they are talking about or are they different? Rich link is: http://www.valkyrienorway.com/COLORS.html

They could have used some different names.
"Pearl Dark Red" is 98 maroon and cream
"Dark Pearl Red" is 2001 red/black
More than a little confusing. Two different colors!

R223 is Pearl Sedona Red ...is the Maroon color of the 98 maroon and creme Tourer. Sherry's bike is that color, and i had a saddle bag lid repainted for her. That is the color....R223....Pearl Sedona Red is what it says on the label.

Dags website has R223 as Pearl Dark Red???? Sedona sounds better! Also, not so close to Dark Pearl Red!

And, the Color-Rite site calls the N260P, 2001 red, "Pearl Cheyenne Red" ! Sure wish they would all call it the same name!

Just FYI...if you want to save some money on paint, take the bike (or painted parts) to a NAPA and have them scan them. They can then have their machine search through thousands of paint codes/mixes to match up the colors. I was then able to buy paint at NAPA for alot less $$ than buying from Color-Rite.

All great info! Thanks alot. Now to just figure out how to get a half decent paint job done that wont fall off when I go above say a ton, cheep as possible. I really would rather change the color completely and I can afford about a grand +-. It could be a single color but I prefer a two-tone. Anyone from Southern California know a decent place to try?
Would I save a bunch by preping it myself and what would that consist of? I could have it san blasetd I guess? I know on the stock paint you can feel the ridges whetre the two colors meet so unless I'm having the same design done (which I'm not popposed to) I think it will take more work to prep even if I go one color. Does that make sense?

Does that make sense? That ridge you're feeling is because it's a decal. What appears to be a paint job on the OEM is a mix of paint and decal.

Don't, I say DON'T, sandblast anything thing that you want a smooth paint job on. It can be done, but it takes a ton of primer and a lot of sanding. Take it off with a good strong paint remover. It is a lot of work, but it will take it down to the smooth bare metal. You might find someone who would be willing to work with you that way. Most painters will want to just sand down the existing paint a little and spray on the new color over the old paint. Anyone who will apply an excellent paint job and do it correctly is apt to charge you a good some of money. It consist of a lot of work and good paint and clear coat is pretty expensive. I have painted quite a number of things, including two bikes, but I probably never will again...JTL

Thanks for the comp., and you are right, the guy that painted mine had to use some special primer for abs palstic before final paint. The friggin paint cost $275 for three half pints (two color,1 clear). I got about $850 total in mine ($550 in paint) and its been on for three yrs and I love it. The Klocks-Werks windshield is worth every penny, the best money I've spent to keep the bugs off my teeth.
