Dunlop D402 blow outs

In this article a few Dunlop D402 blow outs are mentioned.
No reason to get worried because Dunlop makes milions of tires and other brands are not mentioned.
Everything depends on tire pressure, age and maintenance. These circumstances are also not considered.  
So take this info for what it is and use your common sense.
For me a reason to change tires in time and use the correct pressure.
The costs of a set of tires are far less than that of an accident.

The article makes no mention of proper PSI and what were the owners maintaining. My local repair shop tells me is that most bikes coming in for other work also have very low tires. They write the PSI on the repair ticket and remind the owner to check more often. As most of us know, low pressure causes overheating and tread separation.

I am on my 3rd DL404F tire.  No signs of this type of problem.  I do check the tire pressure at least once a week.   run 36-37 lbs.    So far get 10-12k out of this tire before I replace it..

I do suspect the problem with those blow outs were cause by over/under inflation.  the article does not go into the inflation, age/tread on the tires.  there needed to be more investigation on the blow outs.

I had a Dunlop E3 blow out years ago.
I was fortunate that the event did not result in serious injury or death.
Bike was fully loaded out with touring gear and I was riding 80+mph on an Arizona highway just past Yuma. When the tire blew, the bike fishtailed across both lanes and I was able to keep it upright for over 100 yards before guiding it into the sunken median and sticking her upright in the sand.

Best I can tell, this was caused by a valve stem failure, deflation, and rapid heat-up of the tire.

I guess the dunlop tires can't handle the 550 ftlbs of torque those HD engines put out as documented by many HD riders while leaving the local watering hole.
