I can't seem to get the seat off my Interstate. My tourer is easy and I thought that the I/S would be too. Is there something else I need to do besides use the key in the center cover? Do I need to remove the bolt behind the passenger seat? Feel kind of dumb asking this question but when in doubt ask. TIA

Well, you have to remove the seat strap also.
Not saying you didn't.
It sits hard in the mount that's on the fender.
There are three points where the seat is held to the bike, the key lock at front being one.

HOZ,
There is a large tab at the rear of the Interstate seat. So when attempting to remove it, turn the key lock and lift the front of the seat. Then, push the seat toward the front of the bike. You should be able to slide it forward a bit, which will set the rear tab free and allow you to take the seat off. If you're having trouble to lift the front of the seat, you might need a new cable between the lock and the latch. Hope this helps!

Give the key a little extra pressure when you turn it, my cable has stretched just a little, enough to require the extra twist.

I never really understood why they would make it so you had to take the strap off first... hmm I need a tool to take it off.

if the seat has not been off a while, turning the key just turns the key. i had to actually dismantel the cable from lock and oil it up. it froze in the shield.
