  I received my license plate renewal for the trailer I pull with the Valk.  It has been $18.00 for a long time.  I went to renew and noticed I will have to sell my first born to get the tag.

                            $ 1 1 8 . 0 0
  What governor are we keeping in prison now. Wonder why people are leaving Illinois. uglystupid2

Michigan went with life time trailer plates a couple years ago just before I bought my IS, I believe they were about $140.  I think I used my trailer 2x since then.  I didn't own the trailer prior that so I don't know how much they were, but if I recall my pop up camper was like $13/yr.

Yup, I have a small trailer I pull once or twice a year and now it will cost me $118.00 to sit in the back yard.   uglystupid2 May rethink owning this thing.   I can't wrap my head around the fact that people are leaving IL. in droves and yet they keep taxing the crap out of us to make up for lost revenue. How can they keep giving away our $hit if there is no one left to pay taxes?  tickedoff

$118 a year???

Don't renew. Sell the trailer. The 2 times a year you need a trailer, go down to U-haul and rent one.

Start making plans to leave.

thanks for reminding me why I will never move 30 miles south into IL.   Yet another reason to avoid IL.

WI is better, but not by much.  Yearly registration for everything went up and having to own 5 vehicles and an over 3000lb. trailer,  I got you beat from that 18 to 118 or so in pricing going up 100 bucks or so.

I just paid my 3000lb. trailer sticker registration and went up like double or so cannot remember but from say 20 to 40 as like others say,  to use 3-5 times tops per year and the rest of the time to sit in my yard storing stuff.

to go up 100 bucks from 18 to 118 is not justified at all.   I can see double like mine went up (give or take) but that much, did you ask your elected officials why so much?  Give them an email,  I bet they give you a B.S. political excuse reason.   tickedoff

Oh wait, skip the email or phone call,  nearly 2/3rds of the human US population is working from home and not taking phone calls or probably not many emails either all thanks to this media blown out of proportion Virus B.S.

good luck on getting a valid reasonable excuse on why going up 100 bucks.  That is not reasonable at all.  I would be pissed as well

Left Arlington Heights in 1984 at 21, good move as Sarasota was truly paradise back then now it is Miami .2 but still vary easy on the taxes.

Here in Colorado I pay over $50 a year for my enclosed 14' trailer.  Since I only use it about once a year, I could save money by just renting one when needed.  But since the trailer also serves as a garage for one of my Valks, that's not an option.

I know a guy who has several trailers.  Some are homemade.  Most are rarely used.  Tag renewals are high even for trailers.  Of course for motor vehicles the cost is hundreds.  There is no VIN on the homemade trailers, though the state issues one, it's a removable sticker.  The cops have no idea where to look for it or even to bother.  No description on the registration other than "HM".  He has every incentive to register one and move the tag around.

George also lives in an enclosed trailer.  Hauled to pavement; you don't want to ride a show bike on dirt.
