What a piece of work she is, I dont know what is in the relief bill, but Pelosi didn't object to anything in the bill, she just wanted to add her own demands that have nothing to do with the relief in it.

I am not so sure we need a relief bill either at this point, but to help those who had economic problems would be good.

I am not in favor of another tarp handout either since no common man saw any good come from this.

I dont understand why they cannot change a few rules and give people the temporary help they need without just throwing money at dubious causes. But I do know this Pelosi is not the person to design a bill, especially since we would have to pass it to find out whats in it.

This is precisely why I'm becoming a DINO.

If, an economic relief bill is necessary to help those losing their jobs and small businesses stay viable, then get off yer asses and pass it.   Attaching all these riders is bullshit in it's purest form and it stinks to high heaven.   This is precisely the kind of crap that will cause me to support President Trump in November.   Don't make me vote a straight ticket.

California, please wake up and retire Speaker Pelosi.

Yeah, providing a 500 billion dollar slush fund which would be divvied out at the discretion of the President, without them having to report where the money went for 6 months, is a brilliant idea.

Everyone should read all the "add ons" the Dems are trying to attach to this legislation.   Their thinking appears to be to get those items they know would never pass on there own and if anyone votes against their "Money" bill, they can say the Republicans are to blame for the money not flowing.  As with the vast majority of decisions we have to make in life, there is always compromise.
I don't believe there is a perfect bill or law passed.   I especially don't like helping cruise ship lines that are registered in other countries to avoid paying our taxes, they should not get any relief IMHO.

I know what you are saying but in the last TARP relief effort is was many trillions and only scant details are out about who acutally got money. I can tell you it was not people like you or me and there was NO accountability what so ever. That is pretty much why I am not in favor of blindly giveing money away. I know many that lost houses and livelyhoods to this, yet fat cats were protected.

Dont you think it would be a much better deal to change a few laws and make money available through loans from the goverment at no interest and on a need basis? Plus for families that are out of work do the same with a review down the line to see if the loans would be an outright gift. Could be done by income, debts, and assorted other determining factors.

I like Trump but the details on this are not really out there and I doubt he would design a package like the last one, but that does not mean I am in favor of it without details either. But Pelosi has to go and the way she did it was terrible, object on the points not on adding supuerfluous measures.

Do you have any opinions on the DNC saying we can use this for our plans.

You are a real peach of a guy Rob, the Dems aren’t fighting over that, they want their own slush fund in the bill. Of course you still have a job. Way to go, in supporting the millions at home waiting to figure out how they will get by. Not the time to play politics.

Some of the crazy things in this proposed bill:

(Cut and paste)

Under the heading of “Union Giveaways”:

• Nullifies the White House executive orders on federal collective bargaining and codifies taxpayer-funded union official time.

• Requires a labor union representative on every airline’s board of directors.

• Multiemployer pension bailout lacking needed reforms.

• Permanently raises the minimum wage to $15 for any business that receives federal aid for COVID-19.

• Cancels all debt owed by the U.S. Postal Service to the Treasury.

Under the heading “Green New Deal priorities”:

• Requires all airlines that receive assistance to offset carbon emissions for domestic flights by 2025.

• Includes a $1 billion “cash for clunkers” airplane program where the Transportation Department buys fuel-inefficient planes from airlines in exchange for agreeing to buy new ones.

• Includes expansive new tax-credit for solar and wind energy.

Under “Student Loan Forgiveness”:

• $10,000 blanket loan forgiveness.

Under “Federalizing Elections”:

• Mandates how states must run elections, including the nationalization of ballot harvesting, requiring early voting, same day registration, and no-excuse vote by mail.

• Puts states at risk of costly litigation if they are unable to implement these stringent mandates ahead of the 2020 election.

Under “Immigration Provisions”:

• Requires the Homeland Security Department to automatically extend visas and work authorizations expiring within the next year, including those with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and Temporary Protected Status, for an amount of time equal to their prior visa, authorization or status.

• Limits Customs and Border Patrol’s ability to shutdown processing centers if there is a health crisis on the border and requires CBP to assure the timely adjudication of asylums applications.

• Would allow certain funding to go to sanctuary cities.

Under “Overreaching Mandates on Businesses”:

• Permanent changes to who can serve on corporate boards of directors for companies that receive assistance for payroll and operating costs.

• Mandatory disclosure on supply chain management.

• Requires board diversity disclosure for all publicly traded companies.

• Ban on all federal rulemaking including non-COVID 19 proposals (extends 30 days after emergency) “in an attempt to delay the current administration from promulgating actions House Democrats disagree with.”

Under “New Permanent Mandates”:

• Virtually rewrites the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program policy with no reference to COVID-19 and permanently disallows rulemaking pertaining to work requirements and eligibility.

• Permanent expansion of Obamacare entitlement, “putting the American taxpayer on the hook for endless and unchecked health insurance spending and would remove all incentives for insurers to reduce the cost of health insurance.”

Mr. Scalise said the Democrats’ bill also excludes bipartisan health-care provision in the Senate bill, including a proposal to expand telehealth access for home dialysis patients, hospice and home health patients; and a measure to prevent a payment reduction for durable medical equipment to help patients’ better transition from the hospital to home.

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/mar/23/nancy-pelosi-coronavirus-stimulus-package-socialis/

Taking their cue from the words of President Obama's former Chief of Staff:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb-YuhFWCr4

Both sides need to cut this crap out. If they're gonna do a relief bill, make it short, make it sweet. We're talking 10 pages tops. Not this ~1500 page wish list of ways you want to fundamentally destroy transform this nation.

So the Dem plan is... we'll help you save your left nut, but we're cutting off your right nut.

Business as usual, never let an emergency go to waste to buy more votes and extend more socialism.

The Babylon Bee article is satire, but on the other hand the willingness of the D's to tank the economy (and the people) through the election is not satire at all.

I don't know if the original plan is a good idea or not overall, but there seems little question it would stop (or slow) the market nosedive (and that is a good idea).

500 Billion to help the unemployed make ends meet, another 500 Billion to keep businesses solvent  that will eventually employ these very same people. This is apparently an evil plot by the Trump Thugs. Parachuting in are the Pelosi/Schumer folks to make sure that socialism and the green new deal are not forgotten in the package....what could possibly be wrong with this plan to hold up the funding bill until they get their way. If you like what the Democrats are doing, make sure you vote the party line, especially the part where they want ballot harvesting included...gotta help the illegals cast those ballots for a permanent high tax "Democratic" Government...to hell with those American Citizen Deplorables living between the liberal run coasts. These clowns want a North American carbon copy of the European Union dictated by an appointed, unelected parliament located in New York, right next door to the UN...for convenience.

It'll be interesting.  Our federal government allows the states to handle this situation as they see fit.  It's a drawback of our great republic in pandemic time, IMHO.

The ChiComs were able to set the policy, put it into play and enforce it without bureaucracy or argument.

In the case of New York, apparently the feds want to save lives enough to be sending a military hospital ship, etc..

I doubt 1 trillion will do much to help, but I sure don’t want half of it hidden and possibly going to bailouts for unworthy companies and CEO’s.

On page 127, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which produces PBS, is handed an additional $300,000,000 “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus”. Of that amount, $50,000,000 “shall be used to support the public television system”.

On page 39, the Internal Revenue Service, or IRS, is given an additional $278,000,000 under the Pelosi bill.

Designated to the vague “Taxpayer Services,” the legislation gives $236,000,000 to the IRS to “prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus”.

The bill gives another $42,000,000 to an “Enforcement” category.

On page 150, the Department of State Migration and Refugee Assistance program is allotted $300,000,000 for “migration and refugee assistance”.

On page 127, the Institute for Museum and Library Services is given $500,000,000 “respond to coronavirus” by granting States, museums, territories and tribes “to expand digital network access, purchase tablets and other internet-enabled devices, for operational expenses, and provide technical support”.

On page 15, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, is granted an additional $33,200,000 “for necessary expenses to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus…”

Listed under a “Safety, Security and Mission Services” category, on page 17, Pelosi gives the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA, an additional $100,000,000 “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus”.

Earmarked for an ambiguous “Construction and Environmental Compliance and Restoration,” the bill grants $100,000,000 “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus” on page 18.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts isn’t left out. On page 77, it is given $35,000,000 “for operations and maintenance requirements related to the consequences of coronavirus”.

On page 88, the “Ryan White HIV/AIDS program” receives an additional $90,000,000, according to language in the bill.

The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences is allotted an extra $36,000,000 on page 94 of the legislation.

Two Washington, DC, universities get in on the action.

On page 119, Gallaudet University is granted $7,000,000 “to help defray expenses (which may include lost revenue, reimbursement for expenses already incurred, technology costs associated with a transition to distance learning, faculty and staff trainings and payroll)”.

Howard University receives $13,000,000 for similar open-ended expenses on page 123. Howard’s endowment fund currently stands at $692,800,000.

It appears the Senate is going to pass the Republican bill with an oversight provision.  I’m thinking that once the Dems riders became known, the reaction was not what they expected.

This will be 2008 all over again: leverage the climate of 'doomsday' and rob the tax payers money to help big corporations/banks.

And the American people will be the ones loosing their savings, jobs, houses.
