although there are already documented cases of people getting completely better. he must own stocks in certain companies.

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/nevada/articles/2020-03-24/nevada-governor-bars-malaria-drugs-for-coronavirus-patients

Sisolak signed an emergency order earlier Tuesday barring the use of anti-malaria drugs for someone who has the coronavirus. The order restricting chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine came after President Donald Trump touted the medication as a treatment and falsely stated that the Food and Drug Administration had just approved the use of chloroquine to treat patients infected with coronavirus. Sisolak said in a statement that there’s no consensus among experts or Nevada doctors that the drugs can treat people with COVID-19.

So, you have a drug that is approved for use for one thing and you can't use it for an "unintended" purpose????

That makes no sense.

If it does not work, what is the down side?

The only downside I have heard of is the availability of the drugs in question.

The whole thing is just BS.  The President never said the drug was approved, what he said was testing was showing it looked promising. There has been no reported issues with the anti-malaria drug. The issue is some idiot drank a "fish tank cleaning solution" which contained two of those compounds, and died. Same as drinking "wood alcohol" and then blaming the death on alcohol. Some people are just plain stupid, and apparently that can't be fixed.

The down side is that President Trump touted it as a possible treatment, and if Trump says something is good, our friends on the left have to immediately denounce it.

(And on a serious note, some idiot took an aquarium cleaner that has this drug in it and got himself a Darwin award for it (And his wife is in ICU) so the press is spinning it as President Trump practically murdered this guy. Also, the drug can have some very nasty side effects so it shouldn't just be taken willy nilly..... But for them to make it illegal for doctors to prescribe it off label when it's showing such good efficacy is just asinine and vindictive.)

I would not piss on him if he were on fire

What total lunacy and arrogance.

Good thing I do not live in Nevada

Can you imagine if he were in charge of any breakthrough research

This is what happens when one lets their political ego and agenda get in the way of common sense.  Let the doctors decide what is proper or not.  How does this governor have this power anyway?  I have followed a number of patients and the original trial by the French doctor in which the drug Hydroxychloroquine has worked.  Numerous doctors around the country are administering it and other trials like the one Dr. Mehmet Oz has instituted at Columbia University are under operation.

At least the fish tank cleaner guy went out with a clean stomach.  I hope his wife survives.  Sometimes you can not help stupid.

Strictly a political call on his part.   My opinion.

Personally speaking, I'll go with my doctor's recommendation over any politician, to include our President.  Don't take that as a condemnation of President Trump.   He's not a doctor either.  But, I do believe he's getting damn good advice from some of the best minds out there.   Willow, has he called yet?  Wink

Some people just have an over inflated view of their own importance.  Statements that the Gov. made seem to imply that he knows more than anybody else.  That kind of arrogance will lead to his fall. IMO
