I am putting these on because it seems like I am stretching to much when riding. They are 5 1/4 '' and were given to me so that is why I am using them, I have them on and they feel good but after rerouting the throttle cables they bind when turned full lock to the left, I thank I could get them behind the triple tree but I thank they would kink them that way. Ok my question is, has anyone else used risers like this and if so how best would it be to reroute the cables?

Many have rerouted the OE throttle cables inside the tree with 5.5" Deuce risers with no problem. One of my valks came this way, and no binding at all. But note, I have an interstate, and the throttle cable assembly at the handlebar is a bit different from std/tourers, giving a bit more slack (like a quarter inch). EDIT; I guess 2 inches? Note, you can loosen the bars in the riser clamps and slide the bars left and right for more slack when working on this. Still, when done you MUST run the bike in the driveway turning the bars lock to lock to ensure you are trouble free (before going out for a ride, and first discovering trouble in a tight turn). It was suggested on the link to use a Interstate throttle housing on the standard but it did not say if I would need I S cables or could use the standard cables. Can someone tell me the way I should go with this? If I decide to keep my standard housing how much longer cables should I get?

Just completing fork rebuild, polishing, VTXextreme 4° triple trees, Progressive springs install, shield and it's hardware which have wire and cable holders, not on yet. These are my 9" Harley risers. I routed the throttle cables behind the trees some time ago; no other routing or length changes. With the bars further back and turned down to straighten my wrists, (and other changes - highway pegs, forward controls, Russell seat, Rostra cruise and Brakeaway lock) this bike is far more comfortable than my wing. Yeah lotsa toys on the bars - ZUMO, trailer brake control, Escort, Phone X-mount, Rostra cruise panel, fuel control panel, Brakeaway throttle lock, speakers, Butler drinkholder, paper cup drinkholder, ball mount for Hero camera, XM satellite antenna. Pardon the clutter, still in process.

As far as I know, you can use the stock cables with the IS housing. I've read a few threads here about the swap and none of them said to get cables too; just the IS control housing.

Yes they do no problem, as the cables exit through the bottom rather than the front of the housing you gain about 2" of length.

Well I decided to go with the I S housing so ordered one from Penwall Cycle this morning. Just for a experiment I turn my stock housing so the cables would point down and the cables were just fine. Want to say thanks again.

Sorry to say but the one from Pinwall did work out, I guess it was a miss commutation but they sent me one for a standard, they were very nice about it and I was able to return it. They had one for a I S but it did not look as good so I went with a new one from my local dealer now my only disappointment is the new Honda one is made in China. I am sure it will work ok but just a bit disappointed.
