After returning from temple the temperature display on my old chrysler said it was 33 which is above freezing so I changed out of my "church" clothes into my mesh jacket with a wind liner and after checking the tire pressure and warming the Valkyrie up in the driveway for a few minutes headed out into the bright sunshine of a fine but brisk December day.

Apparently mother earth does not care about what the weatherman says as there was ice down my street in the usual places and in lots of the outer portion of many curves but the sun was sure nice and the wind had died down to nothing special.

I headed for points south and rode here and there making sure to keep the tach over 3k so the battery would be getting a nice charge from its slumber of the past week or so.

As I got to the Elmsford exit off the Sprain which is called the Taconic up where I live, I called to see if Gman was home and itchin to go riding also. Cheryl said he was out with his boy at a party so GMAN you missed another bodacious day for a ride man.

I headed up the hill over 287 and pointed the Valk toward north.  Somewhere short of Rt 84 I got off and pointed the Valk south again.

It seems some bonehead had forgotten to put on his electric gloves and the situation was getting a bit frigid on the digits of the left hand.

Being a tall fellow I did what I always do, lock the throttle at 70 lean forward and hold onto the engine guards for awhile.  Sure enough in no time my fingers were happy and I then got off and headed east.

Did that for a while then found a road and headed south then west

In no time I was back at the Taconic just north of the reservoirs and since I just cant resist riding over the bridge and up the hill of no tickets that is what I did.  Hit 95 going up the hill when the fingers started getting cold again so I throttled back and held onto the engine guard for a mile or so. Then found my favorite gas station and topped off the tank and headed home.

Maybe I will look at those clear wind deflectors from JCWHitney as they seem to be just what I need when I forget to put on the heated gloves.  Anyone have em on an interstate and like em?

Of course when the police bmw gets here with its heated grips I wont have this worry and I bought it just for these kind of days.

Hope you all got to ride

Oh yeah   Happy Channukah to all  and to all a good ride

Thought about taking a ride today, but.......can't get down the driveway.....too much ice!! We had a guy show up to our morning meeting today. He rode from Newark, over an hour away, and I don't think it was above freezing when he arrived. Bright sunshine and beautiful out now though. Keep the shiney side up, my friend......and Happy Channukah to you!!

Hey Oss, I took the deflectors that mount on the mirror mounts off when I put on the 2BSeen lights. They could use a little TLC, but you are welcome to them. I just use a really big windshield in the winter, then go back to the stock (planning on shortening it this winter) when it's warmer. We're meeting at the Log House in Winsted CT at 9am for breakfast tomorrow. Let me know, and I'll bring 'em along. Or maybe I'll just bring them & give them to one of the guys that  goes to the Dairy to get to you. Let me know...
