Looks like it plugs in, gets hot.   Melts a new sole onto an old boot?

Yep, for putting new soles on your shoes. When is the last time anyone did that?
Machine was in my grandfathers shoe shop.

Most boots today are no longer re-solable.

My Danner's still are though.

You can shoe goop up the bottom of your old tennies though, or go to Walmart and get some new ones for $3.99.  Duct tape doesn't work to keep the water out though.... after 15 minutes.

The high motorcycle boots (I have 2 pair) are from Germany  The boots are about 17 yrs old now

Greyhound model- Hochenheim is the maker.  I got em at Americade, most comfortable boots I ever owned.

My shoe man is close to 90 yrs old and he replaces the soles of my boots about every two years for me
with vibram soles on a machine like that one.  He has lots of interesting machines that run with belt drive.

When pretty new I wore them during Chrome's powwow meet into Lake Huron at a boat ramp in Weirton, Ontario. You were there Gig, to win a bet that they were waterproof.  They were !  Water was pretty cold though lol
