My alternator died Sunday and I've searched the heck out of this site. I've read a lot of good tips but a video would be awesome if anybody knows of one. I've decided to go with the GW and clock the bracket. I also see I need 4 dampers and an o-ring. Does anyone have part numbers for those? Any other advice about removal and install would be welcomed. From what I read, it sounds like the first time is gonna suck, lol.

Tip: When putting the alternator back in, you will need to keep the rubber spacers separated. I used some silicone grease to keep them from flopping around. Just take your time and pay attention.

Here's my post on the alt. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,107156.0.htmlI would need to check, but if you have a dremel metal cut off wheel, those studs on the cover, above the height of the nuts holding it on, cut them flush to the nuts. This will make the WHOLE install a lit easier. Also, get some 2" rubber hose, slit it length wise and wrap it around the frame. This will stop you from nicking the paint when you rest the alternator on it if the job takes longer than you want.

The alternator installation video was removed due to excessive use of profanity.

Really wasn't too hard to get out, but snapping off that bolt really put a damper on the project.

Unfortunately, it's going to take me at least 8 days. Got an e-mail from Partzilla saying the parts won't be shipped till Monday. Damn CV-19 anyway.

Thanks! I even think I might have some of that!

Really wasn't too hard to get out, but snapping off that bolt really put a damper on the project. Some have also broken it off, and only used 2 bolts to remount. Shouldn't require more. You might find a post on drilling out the broken piece, and just placing a nut/bolt all the way through, in place of the stud.

Removing those bolts for the first time is high risk.
Engine should be warm
Lots of tapping on the socket with a small hammer
Introducing penetrating oil as soon a a gap is formed by backing the bolt out
Go slow and be patient

I saw those tips beforehand and did them all, and the sumgun still broke. I'm hoping 2 bolts is all she needs.

Should be fine. I was lucky all three came out easy. Hardest part to me was having to take it out and put it back twice because of the rubber dampers

Ya mine broke could not leave it alone. Brought alt to machine shop had them make a dowl to fit bolt hole in alternator. So it fits snug drill small hole through it, then. Had them do three more time and use bigger bit each time. Mount alternator put collar in hole in alternator get angle drill cut drill bits so they are flat on tip. Idea is collars are line up for bit worked awesome saved threads
