just missed the big hail today

Wife wanted me to take scoot to Madison to mother in laws at 430p.m. after work to get 8 face masks sewn for my kid to send to her tomorrow thru post office.   I looked at 6 p.m. we going to get hammered hit or miss high winds and hail/rain.  YEP,  made it up no problem sunny and warm 70 and very humid.  Coming back home booked it doing near 20 mph over 55 knew it was coming could see it 20 miles from home.  Last 6 miles on hwy. it cut loose for my 2nd ride out this year small hail and luckily just rain.  I drove 32 miles in 25 minutes home usually taking me near 40 minutes if driving sensible.   Made it home safe and sound pulling into town of course rain stopped and rainbow came out 1/2 mile from home.

could have much much worse news at 6 p.m. said just south of Monroe WI about 15 miles or so south of us they got over golfball sized hail (I have never seen over marble sized hail)  with 60 mph winds.  Just glad I was not going thru that for I have been hit with pea sized hail doing 60 mph and NO fun .  Am surprised my so-so rear tire (middle smidge has no grooved tread left can get 2-3000 more miles on it) on main hwy did not swerve or feel uplifting or shifty coming down rain pretty steady but no downpour doing about 62 mph but a straight main hwy. road.  I did hit one tar snake for a split second 1 mile from home and did seem to shift the bike just very briefly.

I checked radar and they were right this time a small blob of dark red right before 6 p.m. but was hoping it was later for I got home at 550 p.m. thinking I would be o.k. just missing it, but thought wrong.  It was one of those odd eerie dark sections above my hometown and south and right next to the dark stuff was complete sunshine no darkness sun was out.  Those type of scenarios with one big blotch of complete darkness and sunshine right next to one another is usually a storm to AVOID for sure.    Being about 20 miles from home seeing the darkness heading right on the edge of it,  I knew it was not going to be smooth sailing all the way home

It is terrific when you can just stop somewhere for 10 minutes and miss disaster

Unfortunately if there is no place to stop it don't matter does it?

Your tire is wore smooth past the wear bars, and you figure to get another 2-3 thousand miles out of it ?

the rear tire is not showing the cords/belts (yah I know replace before they start showing)  yet rear tire only has about 6-7000 miles on it and like said,  only the very small say 1 cm middle section has no grooves left being flat and smooth.  Am sure once I sit on the bike (or just parked) part of the deep grooves dead of center are contacting the road just fine.  I guess I do too much straight hwy. driving to wear out the sides of the tires like so many on here do.

My last Avon Cobra though rear tire I did let go too far at 9-10000 miles since a smidge of the cords/belts were showing in the middle of the rear tire and sprayed water on it showing very tiny bubbles all over due to the darn sharp pea gravel penetrating the tire .

My next rear tire will be car tire should get more than 9-10K miles on them right?
