Doesn't show real good but most seem to be burning good. All with a slight gray color which might indicate a bit on the lean side but I'm not changing any settings just yet. Reason...of the six vacuum ports on the back of the carbs, I use 3 for my cruise control, the other three are capped off. All three caps were hardened and cracked, fell apart soon as I touched them to remove. I temporarily used some automotive vacuum caps used in various places on cars, but know they'll not last. I'm wondering why I can't remove the unused ports and simply plug with a bolt. Since you normally don't need access to those ports except once in a great while to check settings, I'm thinking of doing that and keep them in the saddlebags in my box of spare fuses. The other three ports used for the CC appear to be in good shape yet, found the hoses to them flexible. I'll be cleaning these plugs up and reinstalling them, less than 2k miles on them. Next is ckg. the header nuts, can hear a little ticking up in that area after installing the Vikings so might need a bit more snugging up. I have a set of adjustable needles so will hold off installing them until I run the bike some more with clean plugs and no vacuum leaks.

A painful sidenote...since the centerstand lever was hitting the left muffler, it needs some armstrong adjustment which can't be done on the bike. Rather than remove the entire CS, I just removed the stand itself from the mount...done easily by removing two nuts. Remember the spring is still attached, I had my right hand up underneath and holding the frame for leverage while removing the stand. I thought I was clear of the unit as I tapped if off the mount. The spring grabbed it and slammed it against the frame....right where my right thumb was. Was like catching your thumb in a car door, caught the bottom of the nail and some flesh just below the nail. I couldn't even hold a fork while eating last night, this morning it's more sore than last night. Guess I'll take a day off.   Angry

John--I had Attic Rat do his magic on my bike that I had desmogged and capped the vacuum lines with special caps bought from BonS.  Bob took the caps off and plugged each vacuum line with a bolt that I have to remove in the event I want to resync the carbs.  It's only been a year, so not resyncing for a while.  Drop him a line.  I am sure he would be happy to discuss his method.

If you put bolts in, make sure that you use crush washers under them or you will have leaks.

Had a nice chat with Bob...Attic Rat, and have decided maybe it's a good time to pull the carbs for a rebuild. He suggested an All Balls kit so will go looking. Can't do much of anything else now anyway so this would make the bike in good shape for summer if I get to travel.
