Went for a ride yesterday afternoon....rear tire felt low. Was dark when I got home so could not check and knew I would wash her down today.

So I go out and wash the bike, tire was low...also noticed that bolt holding saddle bags was loose...Finish cleaning the bike, get to work drying. That is when I noticed that the port side muffler cover was loose... tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff a guy would think that a 20+ yo bike would hold up better than that... 2funny 2funny

Upon further inspection it seems that the front bracket for the cover has lived a full life and has detached from the cover.

Besides buying a complete unit (PN- 18318-MZ0-003) at $130 is there a fix??? I cant be the only one that this has happened too...

I scabbed in a piece of roofing tin several years ago when
one of my back clamps let loose... my fix isn't invisible,
but you have to look for it...

This is not unheard of...I had one let loose.  Got lucky and bought a new one quite a few years ago when they were still readably available...not sure of their current availability.

How many wondered what port side meant? I was raised on a boat so no big deal.

A Valkyrie doesn't just start up - it undocks.  Grin

LOL, I didn't even realize you had said it until reading the other posts.  I am just re-commissioning my bikes after 5 years and ready to throw lines on them too.

Let me look when I get back to my old house.  We have to finish cleaning it out for the new owners that are closing on 01 May, but I did have a extra cover or two laying around in the sheds.  I will see if I can still find one of them and let you know.

This keeps me from ever port and starboard mixed up: port and left have the same number of letters.

Hey Big Rig.  I was cleaning up at the old house today and found two muffler covers, but only one had the set set of clips for the back.  They are fairly rough.  I am going to hit them with some steel wool today and see how they clean up.  One is in better shape than the other and if it cleans up ok I can get it out to you if you still need it.

I sailed with skippers who wore green-right-starboard and red-left-port socks.

And they had two pair.
