WATCH: CBS News Posts Fraudulent Video Of ICU Nurse Crying Over Poor Working Conditions

The video now appears to be inaccurate. Instead of verifying the legitimacy of the video, CBS added background music and captions to highlight a woman who lied about her workplace situation. The woman, who goes by Imaris on social media, has a prominent following on Instagram.

Prior to CBS picking up this video, Imaris posted on her public Facebook page that she has anxiety and bi-polar depression and had not been an employee at the hospital for over a year. She mentioned in her post that she was unsure if she was ready to return to her job.

Parroting the fraudulent video is 2020 Democratic contender Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. who quote tweeted the video and called on the Department of Labor to issue emergency workplace standards.

“It is insane that our nurses are being forced to are for the sick without masks and respirators. The Department of Labor must immediately issue emergency workplace standards to protect our health workers, their families, and their patients,” Sanders said.

No.  This liar told her fibs before the protests.

My older brothers daughter ge 27 or so is required as a nurse at UW Health in Madison WI (the largest hospital in Madison) to wear 24/7 faceshield and mask/gloves at all times.  Surprise most hospitals cannot adequately supply their employees with proper masks, etc. and if I was in the area of sick people,  it should be required and not able to come into work doing nursing/medical care until properly equipped as they should be.

My fiance is a nurse, she works on a Physical Therapy rehab floor. They have a 5-1 Patient/Nurse ratio. They are required to use mask and gloves, at a minimum, at every patient contact. Mask and gloves are all single use. I guarantee that they are in each room at least 10 times a shift. That's 50 sets right there. They have 6 nurses on her floor, that is 300 sets of masks and gloves per shift, in just this one little corner of a medium sized, but busy, hospital.
I'm on the ambulance, we are required to mask/glove with every patient. At the busy stations we can burn through a box of masks in no time.

Can masks be washed or sterilized?

My (only) M95 is dirty from pollen and carpentry, but it's OK to breath through.

Of course you shouldnt but with the low availability I have washed mine with a bit of Clorox a mild cleaner and the seem fine. Now I did not test them in the laboratory and other such stuff but for all the protection they provide it works. The mask generally just stop spray so moisture is collected on the surface of the mask, some will always get out.

As an alternative I have one of the paint masks with the two cans on it and wore that into a store. Of course the reactions were priceless, I wish I had had some uniform it would have made it all the better  Grin

My mother in law made a dozen masks for my kids to wear out of cloth with bendable pipe cleaner that bends built into and sewn into the edges to remain flexible and stay in place around the edges.  One kid works at a daycare and the other took a hazard pay 2 bucks increase per hour job at Aldi to stand outside and count customers going in/out limiting to 60 in the store and washing carts down outside as well.  Pretty boring job he says and he says cannot believe he gets paid 15.90 hr. just to stand around for the most part, but is for a short time am sure like 2 months or so.   I hope neither get this virus being around people all the time since heard even healthy 20 year olds are getting sick.  Kid says the elderly are mean to him when he has to a few times tell them to stay outside 1-3 minutes NOT going in since only 60 allowed inside until someone else comes out of the store.  He says younger people understand but the elderly going to Aldis get angry at him.    At least now they got rid of the quarters needed to rent a cart there now being a germ factory for sure.

Just saw on the news that Amazon workers getting also that 2 dollar an hour hazard pay are staying HOME NOT working not worth the risk until Amazon takes full measures of safety they should be following protecting their workers.

If kids job was in NY or California or even Milwaukee WI area where most of the WI cases are at right now,  I would say NO NOT take the job although hard to pass up a near 16.00 hr job for doing not much needing the money right now for getting kicked out of the college dorm into an apt. having to pay rent is not ideal.

Yes. Battelle is a company in Columbus, Oh. that can clean 80,000/day. I'm assuming they do it for hospitals, military, etc. not sure if they do it for an individual.

Steam cleaning would do a good job, one of the small portable ones, the virus has a thin fat layer, when it's melted the proteins inside decay rapidly as I understand it.
