Has anyone mounted tires using zip ties to hold the beads close together?  I stumbled onto a video showing the technique, and it appeared to make the job much easier.

I tried it. Valkyrie tires are bigger than the little bicycle tires

Have seen it done with simple packing tape. On an Austone Taxi Tire.
Squeezed the bead together in about 6-7 places around the tire and put a piece of tape on bead next to clamp. Tire went on pretty slick once on pull up the tape out.

I just did the front tire on my Interstate with zip ties...use them to remove the old tire and to mount the new Dunlop...easiest tire swap I've ever done...having lots of sunshine to warm up the ties definitely helped.
