I know there's tons of posts about this.  I'm still gonna ask, because  I'm lazy. What are the best rear shocks  for a 97 standard? I ride solo and 2 up. I'm 6'4",:225, shes 4'11" 100. I run Darkside.

No expert here, but if you can score a gently used pair of interstate shocks you may be happy
as they can be found pretty cheap

I went from reg OEM on my Interstate to Progressive 440's that eventually leaked out  (at 100k)
and scared the crap outa me going over expansion joints on the 3 mile long TZ Bridge to  gently used Interstate OEM shock from someone triking a Valkyrie and am mostly happy with the ride as I am mostly riding solo

If I could score free 444 Progressives might be even better as I recently found the box and got a receipt from directline to try to get the lifetime replacement

Another fellow on this board got some Bitubo shocks for his
Valkyrie through Traxxion in Georgia. I had been reading about
Bitubo before that. Traxxion is a high-end suspension company,
and the other fellow reported that he likes his Bitubos, so that
would be an option if I was looking for shocks.

I have 440s, and like OSS, mine blew out a while back. They were
still making 440s then, and they fixed them for me free. In fact,
they either cleaned them up really well, or sent me new ones.
They still work great.

444s seem like a very good option.

Works Performance used to make really good shocks for the Valkyrie.
The company went through some stuff and came back as Workx,
they're likely a good option.

I put Worx on mine this winter. Very nice people to deal with. So far I do like them very much but honestly living in N.E. Ohio I haven't put many miles on them yet. They are definitely not the cheapest but doing some research it seams those that have them think they are worth the money. Only time will tell.
