Just received email from Doubletree saying my res was cancelled.  No mention of it being changed to July.  What's happening with that?

Just saw something on FB from Lori stating that she was talking to the hotel.

I haven't seen anything from the hotel to book rooms yet.

I was going to reach out to her but after seeing that I decided that I'd wait a couple of more days.

As of now, emails have gone out to all those who registered for Inzane and requested a room.  Some received a confirmation from the hotel for their room and those that did not should have received an email from me with the instructions for booking their room.  If you did NOT receive either email, please contact me so that we can be sure you are taken care of.  You can email me at Motomama.vrcc@gmail.com.  In addition, if you did not request a room and are in need of one, please email me!

See you all in Asheville in July

Is this going to stop us, since that means 25 or less gathering ?

Right now phase 2 runs until June 26 so it's still a month away. Phase 3 can still be a bummer if they don't increase the number for gathering, It also mentions some restrictions might remain for those that are at risk (whatever that means). I'm breaking out the Grecian 44 just in case  Evil

So if the government rules wouldn't allow a gathering such as Inzane to happen, what would happen if a bunch of us just happened to show up at the ground zero hotel on those dates and hang out together for a week?

Probably nothing.  But, hopefully, we won't have to find out.

The early bird deadline is quickly approaching!  The deadline is this Friday, June 12, 2020.  After that time, you can still register, but will not be able to order t-shirts, nor will you be eligible for the free Joe Boyd t-shirt and the IZXX pin!  Don't miss out!

In addition, after 11:59pm July 16, 2020, the discounted room reservations rate for the hotel will not be available.  Any reservations that come in after that date will be charged the regular hotel rate of $169+ per night and it will not include breakfast!  You don't want to miss out on the discounted room rate and a fresh, hot breakfast every morning!!!!   See y'all next month!!!

I hate to ask, but does this effect Inzane?

Quote
A concerned North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced Wednesday the state will remain in Phase Two for another three weeks while making face coverings mandatory in public.

The order that moved the state into Phase 2 on May 22 was scheduled to expire on Friday. It has been extended until July 17. The mask requirement takes effect Friday at 5 p.m.

From the article referenced above.

Cooper said the reason for keeping the state in Phase Two for three more weeks is “because the health experts need that period of time to be able to analyze the data and trends that we are seeing.”

Exceptions to the mask requirement apply to children under 11, those with certain medical conditions and people exercising outdoors away from other people.

So, it will take three weeks to "analyze data and trends".   Gee you would think it would only take a day or two.

I wonder if you have to have documentation of a "medical condition".   If so, I wonder what the document looks like.

While the mask requirement is annoying, I'm more concerned about our ability to "officially" have Inzane during the extended Phase 2 thing...

"Under Safer At Home Phase 2, North Carolinians can hold small get-togethers that do not have more than 10 people indoors or 25 people outdoors. "

I'll wait to provide an answer until the staff members who have dealt with the hotel have a chance to talk with them.  We are at this point pretty heavily committed.  We should get back to you very soon.

I understand.  While there might be several things that could be done, the main one is to communicate with the hotel and tell them the event is in jeopardy because of the Governor's prosped or issued "orders".

The legislaotrs can over ride the governor and should but they need some "push".  They will have to be able to overcome a veto from the governor.

If they have more than one conference room maybe they could break down/stagger the larger group events and meals?  Or outside venue, weather permitting.

And this is interesting.  From here.

https://www.nc.gov/covid-19/staying-ahead-curve/phase-2-faqs#what-is-the-new-mass-gathering-limit

The prohibition on mass gatherings does not include gatherings for health and safety, to look for and obtain goods and services, for work or for receiving governmental services. A mass gathering does not include normal operations at airports, bus and train stations or stops, medical facilities, libraries, shopping malls and shopping centers. It also does not apply to the exercise of First Amendment rights. However, in these settings, people are strongly encouraged to follow the Three Ws and should avoid congregating in groups.

So,  You can assemble to exercise your First Amendment rights.  So, we need a legal opinion on what constitutes a gathering for "First Amendment" purposes.

First Amendment:  It prohibits any laws that establish a national religion, impede the free exercise of religion, abridge the freedom of speech, infringe upon the freedom of the press, interfere with the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibit citizens from petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

Thank you for bringing it up, Serk.  Worst case is maybe you and my eight other friends can enjoy a time in Asheville.

BTW I wholeheartedly agree with and have believed that the bolded portion of the First Amendment posted by Carolinarider09 has made illegal this whole stay-at-home thrust that we have had to live through.

As said in an earlier thread, we need to have a banner or two made up that state

"THIS EVENT IS HELD IN PEACEFUL PROTEST OF INJUSTICE AND INEQUITY EVERYWHERE"

Did that not work at one of the Nascar races?

Inzane XX is not In jeopardy of being cancelled.  This event will be taking place. I am in constant contact with the hotel and visitors bureau and we are working out all of the details.  We will be moving ahead as planned....things will just be a little bit different than we are used to.

You say last 2 days. The pre party is the Sun, and I believe the end night dinner is Thurs. Most leave the next morning for home.

Is it worth it? Yes. I've made it to 2, and regret not making last year's, I think I would have had more fun there than my family vacation in Palm Desert.
