I’m seeing more and more people wearing masks covering their mouth but not their nose. Can anyone really be that dumb.

Judy has made a bunch of masks for people we know. I have one she made too but at this point I think I feel the worst is over at least where we are. I didn’t wear my mask today.

I got official word from my city's staff that a full face motorcycle helmet with the faceshield down counts, so that's what I'm mostly doing now.....

...although I have considered buying one of these just for the lulz.....

Good one Serk cooldude
As far as wearing a mask. What does one think It protects them From?
All a mask does Is keep you (the wearer) from sneezing or coughing on someone. Nothing else. Well maybe keep you from touching your face, but if you are not accustomed to wearing one it has the opposite effect. So wash your freakin hands that is the best thing you can do. I have seen patients every day since the shutdown. Stay safe WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!

We  have not worn a mask. But we are now back in NYS and prince andrew has ordered the wearing of them. We went to the grocery store [ stock is as bad or maybe even worse than Florida] and we were told to put masks on. And, yup, there were some wearing them improperly. and some would pull the mask down to talk.

My life has not changed, wife and I are both still working (essential business) We have not worn a mask as of yet because they were not available. I feel extremely fortunate. I probably won't wear one now. We know of none who have contracted COVID19, although our area is a hotbed according to the local news.

All of my siblings are furloughed/unemployed, not one of the 4 of them has had any success applying for benefits they've paid for their entire working carriers. The youngest is 58. Several of my friends and brother are self employed/small business owners all of which are feeling the pain and so far none of the financial relief funds have been received.

Slight thread drift, at least I'm drifting to the right. There, now it's political like everyone likes it here. Evil

Washington state has allowed construction workers to return to work as long as we wear gloves, mask & glasses.

My 1st day back to work the glasses fogged up instantly when mask is worn.  tickedoff

I bough a flip up shield for my 1/2 helmet. works like a charm.. still have wear mask but no fogging.

I used to try to wear a mask when putting up fiberglass insulation and stuff... fogged
up right away. My buddy told me about these - they allow for easy unlabored breathing,
don't fog your glasses and filter out lots more stuff... I'm sure they're about as easy
to get now as Chrome side covers for a Valkyrie...

I just got back from the grocery store, Sunday morning run for apple fritters and a paper.  Maybe 10 folks shopping in the store.   About half weren't wearing masks, mostly younger types.   I do wear a three layer cloth mask my DW made for me.  I know it won't stop the Virus from coming in, but will stop anything I got from getting out.   Yeah, it doesn't fog up my glasses and I can talk thru it without problems.   It comes off as soon as it leave the store.

Why folks wear a mask while totally alone or driving down the road is beyond me.  Though in the areas where there is a lot of pollen, maybe some wear it to reduce the pollen from affecting them.

Speaking of pollen.

My new rule is once I leave the house, I'm not allowed to touch my face for any reason.

I went for my best longer ride of the year yesterday, and holy crap the pollen makes my nose (and eyes) itch so bad, not itching them is torture.

Finally, I used my sleeve, which is not my (gloved) hand.

Of course with heavy pollen, itching just leads to more itching.

you got that right...
those side covers would be EASIER to find right now.

I do have a cartridge respirator .. no cartridges available either.
I'm good with my 1/2 helmet with the flip up shield.
doubles as a hard hat.

Oh, we're in a state [ NYS ] that is still locked down with mandatory wearing of masks and empty grocery stores. All this in a county with 60 cases and 5 deaths.
In Florida our county had 1000 cases with 20 deaths and no such mandates and the restaurants are starting to open.

I have no plans to wear a mask of any kind. I guess my trips to Costco are out for the time being, they had signs saying masks would be required for entry starting today. So far that is the only place in my area that has required them. It seems idiotic after all this time that now it’s necessary. It’s like a change of the speed limit on a road. Yesterday 70 was perfectly legal but today you are breaking the law.

The only reason I wear a mask is, I want everyone around me to be comfortable and I don't want to give anyone a reason to complain. I hate being controversial  Smiley

I wear my cycle skull mask in stores, get all kinds of looks like STAY AWAY or are scared of me.

https://www.amazon.com/skull-motorcycle-mask/s?k=skull+motorcycle+mask&page=2&qid=1588769525&ref=sr_pg_2

anyone will do, just take your pick, but mine has velcro that stays on well from behind and is breathable for the most part unlike some masks that are tighter and fog up your glasses if wearing them.

I also leave my sunglasses on in stores help me read signs from far away better that way my eyes are protected in case anyone sneezes near me 6 feet or so away.  eyes are also important to cover up besides just nose and mouth.  I look about as bad-_ss as I can and even for some when people look at me they are more apt to walk away  since look like am sure a robber to them or someone they do not want to mess with.  I think wearing sunglasses help along with the skull mask on that one.

YES,  wearing a cycle helmet is best bet so if out cycle riding going into store just leave it on not taking it off.

At work they require all to wear a mask given to us if leaving your desk area or if someone comes up to speak with you to put your mask back on.  I cannot breath too well sitting at my desk with mask on so toss it off since no one 99% of the day is around me 1 of 3-4 in the entire building do our jobs on and off weeks.  We also have to wait at a specific door to go into and call a line lead or supervisor to the door to get a heat gun to our foreheads and sign a form that we are self isolating and no colds/temps, etc. daily basically to cover HR butt.  So far no plant worker has gotten it as far as we know but know if it does happen thru June 8th on/off furlough weeks,  if plant workers stay home we office workers am sure will have to not be in the office and that will not fly unable to do over 50% of my job at home without bringing home what my bosses say are confidential files which are NOT.  Plus, the other 2 older ladies on the other week they work do NOT have internet at home so they MUST be in the office. I wonder how that will work out?  NOT good for company our 12 million behind on processing payments would turn into 30-40 million not done in another 1 month.  Bosses boss told me that cannot happen and all I say is mgmt. (meaning her also) put us into this predicament without consulting us first on what should be done to prevent the backlog so serves them right.  Doubt she liked my answer but if the truth hurts, oh well.  Wink  I lost complete respect for both my bosses long ago.   Smiley

Yah,  went to Costco yesterday spent another 97 bucks on stuff we will use but NOT urgently needed, and masks are required but no lines getting into the store, but coming out there were about 20 people waiting to go into the store restricting numbers into the building.   My kid is getting pandemic pay extra 2 bucks per hour working at ALDI's loving it getting paid near 16 bucks per hour vs. 14 normal to stock shelves and work cash register now that he is getting up to speed/trained.  Supervisor even offered him more hours if he wants them which this summer if this pandemic keeps up will be nice to have the extra money to afford apt. rent payment, etc.    I for one would not wait 20 minutes to go into any store standing outside waiting for more than say 5 minutes.   My kid at Aldi starting out used a clicker counter on his cell phone to limit 60 into Aldi's at a time so when someone came out lower number and add number for people going in.  A few times some older folks had to wait 1-3 minutes and were pissed off at him taking orders from a 19 year old while the younger kids did not care to wait a few minutes outside.   Tough crowd us older folks....
