Food for thought. The next time time you are in a public restroom, if you can smell it, it's already in your body, mask or no mask. I hope that I am wrong.

That's why the fit testing process for the N95 masks use an aerosolized solution.

If the mask doesn't seal then you can smell and taste it as well.

The problem is that the actual fitting of an N95 mask is a complicated process.

https://www.osha.gov/video/respiratory_protection/fittesting_transcript.html

So, the average person just grabbing one off the shelf and putting it on their face may or may not be actually protecting themselves.

The day I get stopped from entering a business establishment for not wearing a mask is the day they will never ever see me darken their doors again.

Had to get out so we went to Walmart, I know it was Walmart, sooo,,,, Employees were telling everyone what to do and where to go and stand/wait, PITA.
But what made me shake my head was the way close to half the people wore their masks.  They were below the nose and with many the upper lip was showing. And there were those even more rude than usual and yelling at others about distancing. Cluelessness seems more contagious than this virus.

The down sides to wearing a mask

"Beyond the lack of scientific data to support wearing a mask as a deterrent to a virus, Blaylock says the more pressing concern is what can and will happen to the wearer."

'Now that we have established that there is no scientific evidence necessitating the wearing of a face mask for prevention, are there dangers to wearing a face mask, especially for long periods? Several studies have indeed found significant problems with wearing such a mask. This can vary from headaches, to increased airway resistance, carbon dioxide accumulation, to hypoxia, all the way to serious life-threatening complications."

anyone else having issues with those spandex white bands that go around your ears breaking/snapping?  I broke 2 at my work in 1 day this Friday being basic masks light blue one side and white the other side.    I must have a bigger than normal head? (or ears?)    Grin

I said heck with it since had 2 broke 2,  I did not bother asking for another having to walk 100 yards away to go get another.    I did hear a big shot who is a know it all  said that homemade or my black skull mask that has velcro in back I sometimes where on my cycle are not allowed at work must be company issued and suppose to get a new one daily as we enter for the day and toss the old one out daily.  Seems like a waste to me.

get this:  wife might be returning to work last week in May finally fairly larger company new rules are 6 feet or more apart having to move her office stuff away from the other co-worker across from her desk since NOT 6 feet,  and no fricking microwave or fridge allowed to use both will be gone.  That is fricking stupid how you going to cook your food if you bring pre-frozen meals?   NO fridge either that is dumb as well.   If her company wants to put those restrictions in place,  then just keep working from home.   Why they thinking up other dumb things,  why not close the bathrooms and take a leak outside the building?   uglystupid2

Mask Laws.

If you are wearing a mask in public in Virginia, New York you are breaking the law, even when the “dictator” says you must.  cursed if you do and cursed if you don’t.

https://reason.com/2020/03/25/is-wearing-a-face-mask-in-public-to-ward-off-covid-19-a-crime/

As relevant here, the Virginia ban exempts masks worn "for bona fide medical reasons," but only if the wearer carries a physician's affidavit that specifies "the medical necessity for wearing the device and the date on which the wearing of the device will no longer be necessary" or if the governor "expressly waives" the prohibition while declaring a public health emergency. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam did declare a public health emergency in response to the COVID-19 epidemic on March 12. But the declaration says nothing about the mask ban.

In New York, a masked person who "congregates" in a public place with "other persons so masked" is guilty of loitering, a violation punishable by up to 15 days in jail. That 1854 law, enacted in response to violent protests by tenant farmers, includes an exemption for a properly permitted "masquerade party or like entertainment" but not for disease protection. In 2011, the New York Police Department deployed the mask ban against Occupy Wall Street demonstrators.

Unintended Consequences of acting first, thinking later

Law Enforcement: Crime Rising Due to Widespread Facemask Usage

In March, two men walked into Aqueduct Racetrack in New York wearing the same kind of surgical masks as many racing fans there and, at gunpoint, robbed three workers of a quarter-million dollars they were moving from gaming machines to a safe.

Other robberies involving suspects wearing surgical masks have occurred in North Carolina, and Washington, D.C, and elsewhere in recent weeks.

that is so whack I cannot hardly believe it.  So, if you wear a mask in public in certain states/cities,  you can get arrested now?    Who thinks of this crap?   uglystupid2      Just like the wife probably going back to work in the office closing down the microwave and fridges.  I told her to go to their public safety or HR asking for the bathrooms and copier to be shut down as well since are touching those with our fingers also.   If you cannot reasonably take NON DUMB precautions going back to work in the office,  then just stay closed down.   uglystupid2

Trust me,  when we all go back to work come June sometime in the office,  I for one will NOT be wearing a mask at my desk NO MATTER what anyone says since they need to keep us 6 feet apart from one another.  If they demand me to wear a mask at my desk NO ONE around me,  I am leaving for the day not even giving a reason screw them all.   I have no problem putting on the mask going to the copier or bathroom, etc. leaving my desk, but NOT wearing one EVER at my desk.

After glancing over the first article, it looks like some of the no mask laws were written in an era when they were attempting to discourage sporting these masks -- for obvious reasons.

This guy was recently wearing his as a "joke".  It didn't go over very well.  Har-har, real funny Bubba.

Yes, our (old) VA mask law is all about the Klan (and similar activities).

Lots of motorcycle riders (in half helmets) wear masks and balaclavas with no issue.

Hundreds (and maybe thousands) in the Richmond 2d Amendment rally were wearing shemaghs with only eyes showing (in addition to complete combat gear and weapons), and balaclavas, and it was damn frigid that morning and a hundreds of policeman were wearing balaclavas too and it was no issue.

In case anyone forgot, our illustrious governor (Northam the Numbskull) made a big splash (here and nationwide) when his old yearbook photo was made public a while ago.  And even though he did not exempt masks in his Kungflu quarantine orders, no cop in his right mind would raise this issue anywhere in VA right now (unless perhaps you dressed yourself up in a complete Grand Wizard of the Imperial Klansmen United costume and paraded around.... which I can tell you the cops would probably be the least of your worries; in fact, in no time at all, you'd be praying for a policeman to show up).

After this picture made national headlines, I don't think Mr Northam will ever make any public statements, or orders or anything else about masks for the remainder of his term (or life).

He's the guy in blackface, not the mask.  Though that is a distinction without a difference.

What I can't understand is how the he!! did they let him into VMI?

Unfortunately, this is yet another example of a politician getting a pass because they have a D behind their name.

I really thought when this came out that it would end his political career.

Instead he feigned a few apologies and all was forgiven.

It didn't hurt that the the Lt. Governor who would've replaced him had 5 different women accusing him of sexually assaulting them at the time.

Come to think of it those charges blew over as well.

I guess that a Democrat really can get away with anything these days.

I was watching a live news broadcast of the President outside the White House late last week.

I noted that both Dr. Brix and Dr. Fauci were wearing face masks.  As the President spoke I noticed Dr. Fauci touching and rubbing his mask and parts of his face.

So, over the weekend, I endeavored to see if I could find that by reviewing the YouTube video.  Since this occurred over about a 30 minute plus video I would have had to do a lot of work to show what I had seen in a coherent, concise format.

Lucky for me, today I found this image.  The saying "Do as I say, not as I do" comes to mind.

It really doesn't mean anything for two reasons.

One is that Fauci was wearing the mask not to protect himself but to protect others from himself as he had be exposed and carried the possibility of being poisonous.

The other is that the instruction to not touch one's face is overstated.  Not touching one's mouth, nose or eyes is what is need to protect oneself and even that doesn't matter if he was already infected.

Fauci is a bit disingenuous but this isn't the proof.

Menards here in DePere, WI now requires all customers to wear a mask. While standing by the rent-a-cop putting mine on, some old geezer(not me) walked by and let go a Dumbo size fart....one of those "makes your eyes water" types. I looked at the RAC and said "can you smell that?" To which he answered in the affirmative. So I commented "just shows you how effective these fool masks really are" and walked away. Soon as I got down the aisle I dropped it down to my neck so I could breathe normally and if I met someone I pulled it up if they were masked....if not, I didn't bother with mine.

Yea.....I show up with a Bandanna mask and Stetson on......with my six gun on my side.......smell when then their  "rent a Cop"  fills His drawers!!  LOL!!!

Everybody needs exposure, in order to get rid of it.   Hidden yourself away
for six Months???   Walk out, and you will still get it.    They are making this crap a LOT longer than it need be.......
