Good morning all,  can someone tell me if there is enough space between inner and outer shells of trunk?  Dont want to disassemble it if it wont fit!

There is actually quite a bit of room. Are you talking about the little black box that flashes the brakes. There should be room for that. I should be getting my LED bulbs today, I’ll be pulling lights to change and can measure it for you.

Please elaborate.  Is there a LED bulb that fits inside the stock IS trunk lights?  If so I guess you'll still have to heat the housings in an oven to crack them open?

there is 3.5” X 6” of space between lights plus space around them. Pull the right light out, that’s the side the wire harness enters. You can do the hookup all through the light opening.

I ordered replacement bulbs from superbright LEDs. Just replace bulb, no need to separate lens. Going to do one side and see if it’s bright enough. Otherwise they do make the board style lights that will fit if you open lenses to install. Don’t want to go that route if replacements are bright enough. And 85% cheaper. New lights haven’t shown up yet. Also ordered the replacements for headlights for interstate and gauge lights and break light  for the tourer.

those bulbs are great, used them on another project. I couldn’t use them on mine, I changed my trunk lights to running/ brake/ and turn.

Thanks, I'll look into this!  Which bulbs did you order?  I want to go the running/brake/turn route as well.  The wiring is already set up this way for the now smashed BonS lights, so the transition might be fairly easy.  (Sorry for hijack, I'll try PM)

I don't know if a Interstate is is designed like the standard, but I mounted mine on the fender above frame brace area under the seat. Close to the wires that you need to splice into and offers good protection from the elements.

These are the bulbs I picked up from SuperBrightLEDs to replace the old ones...also bought a base socket to retrofit the outboard lights into brake/turn signals.

I ordered 7443-R27-T-CK for the main lights and the 74-RHP3 for the smaller lights. Superbright LEDs
Both fit right in perfectly but not as bright as I thought. Definitely brighter than stock and react to the brake and turn faster (not the fade on and off of stock) I ordered the red LEDs and may try white to see if that’s brighter.
Has anyone used white in their red lenses? I was told it’s not the same as stock white.
Thanks

I tried white LED's at first and they gave an orange tint to the rear lenses. Went to red and looks much better.

Jim are the 74-RHP3 mini wedge bulbs?  If so, are minis all that will fit in the smaller light housings?  I'd prefer to use full size wedge if it'll fit.

Yes. Don’t think you’ll get anything bigger in there. The socket and the hole it fits are very small.
