Get yourself a LED flasher similar to this and switch out your OEM one from under your left side panel. Much better than resistors, and won't get hot.
Chart here shows Valkyrie 1500 compatability (it does fit all models and years, although that is not stated).

Same thing, but ships from USA.

2 pin works great on our Valkyries. Direct replacement, plug and play with no hard wiring necessary. I have one in both my bikes, with LED turns front and back.

Picked up everything I needed through SuperBrightLEDs...great folks to deal with and easy/no hassle replacements if there is an issue, I even picked up some base sockets to retro-fit the lights on the truck I got to brake/signal..

Pretty sure with the flasher you won't need diodes or resistors for the blinker wiring. At least neither of my bikes did.
Come to think of it, I take that back. I did use a diode in the headlight bucket along with the flasher on the Tourer to make everything work properly. One of these.

The Interstate did not need a diode.
I'm using switchback LEDs with clear lenses on front with the Bullet. They work great, and look really sharp with the white LED Cobra spots and LED headlight. All cool white LED up front, until I turn and the amber kicks in.
Mine look very similar to these.
