Years, and I mean YEARS ago, I got some rear wheel dampeners made from Polyurethane from our old board member Gary (RIP).  I recently developed a drive-line clunk and found that thankfully it was not the driveshaft and cup, but the Poly had finally deteriorated to dust.  I've read others have had this problem with his units, and it may possibly be because of his formula he spec'd.  I accept limited life (again, SEVERAL years) for the improved performance over the stock rubber units.  The question is: now that Gary has passed, is anybody else making Poly wheel dampeners?  I had a spare set from Gary and am good for now, but in a few more years, I expect them to need replacement again.  It'd be nice to know who, if anyone, to acquire them from in the future.  I checked with Rich at Redeye Tech since he makes Poly shock bushings, and he did not make the dampeners as of 8-10 months ago when I was rebuilding carbs.  Thanks in advance.

As I recall, some of Gary's early production poly dampers crumbled... but this was remedied soon after.  I think those early crumblers usually showed up pretty quickly.

I have a set in each interstate (2) and they are still very good. (approaching 10 years)

I know of no other source for them.

I remember reading some people with the Honda dampers just shoved in shimming rubber strips (or something) when those got old.   But they never crumbled.

the new I/S dampers are a poly compound. I had a set of gary's originals that failed and had his replacements. compared replacements later on to the new I/S ones, there was no difference IMO

Where are the new dampers to be found/purchased?  Sorry if it's well known - new the the community.  I tried the search but most posts are from decades ago.  This was the only one from 2020 on the first couple of pages of results.  Thanks!

There are many online, just search for parts and they will appear.

I use procaliber.com , in WA, I figure closer so faster delivery.

There is bikebandit.com too that comes to mind.

I forget where right now, but the silicon dampeners, a little stronger and last longer. Mine where made by  a member locally, who's passed now.

Just get the one piece solid rubber/metal ones for the IS model, not the 2 piece for the others. Basically all GL1500 are the same (for the dampeners), except the early GW ones (6 spoke, instead of the 5 spoke ones).

You might want to add your location to your profile. Might also be told of something local to you.

I personally get the US online price, then go to my Honda dealer in Can. and try to get a price I'm happy with. This way I try to help out the brick-&-mortar business.

And Welcome to the Forum.
