While checking the splines at 13k miles on the new tire, which looked great, still well coated with my mix of TC moly sticky grease and their 70% paste and with the new red eye o-rings, and found a rubbing issue on the inside of the fender.
It is the forward fender section which has a bump into the tire area to clear the upper shocks cross brace. This is on my std/tourer with an I/S tank and shocks.
It is not major rubbing wear, as it seems to happen only sometimes, but will still require the 2x4 and small sledge hammer certified precision tools to fix.
It was easy to see, since I had undercoated the fender during the last tire change and the undercoating was gone showing the factory paint which was not worn through to the metal.
so if using this size tire, something to check.

it is the tread that is rubbing. tire has three threads, same rub marks on fender.

ok, so this cannot be fixed as is. that area of the fender is up tight with the cross member, zero room to move it. looking closing the wear is not constant but is only happening at extreme suspension compression. at 13k miles with this tire wear on the fender is very minimal. Presently shocks are set at level three and will try level four and see how the ride is. if too stiff, then options are live with it until new tire time, or first option is to install the Air Shocks I have sitting on the shelf which are known to get very stiff at full compression, so that might be the solution. Now do I want to install the chrome ones or polish the aluminum ones to a chrome appearance?

98valk, there is an article somewhere on the forum about shimming the front of the fender across. I had exactly the same issue as you with my 205 tire. It involves slipping a couple of washers between the fender and the fender rail, which helps pull the fender across just enough to stop it rubbing. Unfortunately it was a few years ago when I did mine, so I can’t remember exactly where they go sorry!

Follow up.
checked my notes. When I first installed this tire I also installed the I/S shocks. at first I had them set too soft, so most likely that is when the tire hit the inner top of the fender. Re-coated the area and will monitor with existing number three shock setting.
