petcock screen fell inside the tank, I blow air in the petcoke, where the fuel comes out thinking it was clogged, not knowing about the vacuum! uglystupid2
1-should I put a screen in the fuel line, what are the side effects.
2- try to pull the screen out (how).
3- get a new screen.
any suggestions will be greatly appreciate it.

Replace the screen and forget about the loose one if you can't get it out.

He doesn't say if it's an interstate.

If it is, mightn't a screen left in the tank foul the fuel gauge sending unit?

Studlly, that flexible grabber may not have wide enough jaws (full open) to grab the screen.  You can't tell from the picture if that's as wide as they get.  The screen itself is so tight, I don't think the jaws will pierce  it or get a good purchase, unless it bends inward some.

Take the tank off and shake till you can get it form the top. Am I missing something here?

I thought the same thing, but there have been several posts in the past where some guy did that all day and couldn't get it out.

Buy a new on. Like $10.

Probably need to rebuild the petcock too if ya blew compressed air into it. Not made for those sorts of pressures.

I agree. Taking a chance on trashing my motor/starter from hydrolock wouldn't be my option but I have Pingle which makes me the only variable in the fuel shut off equation.

Hey Jess, I am one of those "some guys" LOL.
I just went through the exact same thing on my standard.  I probably spent 5 hours one day and a couple hour another trying to get the damn thing out.  Filled not with water so see if it would float since water is heavier than gas, and it will not.  Tried shaking it a million different ways to get it out the top, no luck at all.  Damn filler neck blocks everything.  Then there is that little bar forward of the filler neck that keeps you from being able to get it all the way to the front to grab it.  Tried the little flexible grabber, coat hanger with gorilla tape, small vacuum tube, over and over, no luck.  Finally just left it in there, put another screen on the petcock and went on about riding.  This was a couple months ago.  No problems.

All my life, I remember a great deal of what I see and read.

The amount of stuff rolling around in my noggin is pretty amazing, but much of it entirely unnecessary.

The alternative of remembering nothing and not even knowing your own name would probably be worse.

Ya, when I write things quick and don't proof read things don't go well. My mind has a bad habit of filling in words that aren't actually there or just seem right at a fast glance.

Find the exactly correct parts list for your Valkyrie and order the screen specified.

Trying to save a few bucks in this instance is folly.
