Good morning,
So,  I plan on adding an additional tail light to Interstate and had a couple ? Before parts show up at end of week.
1.  I ordered both wiring sub harnesses but have seen conflicting posts on where to connect them.  Is it an additional plug or unplugging existing tail lights and plugging sub harness in?  If that's the case,  I would have to splice in to existing wires.  Unfortunately,  old tech archives on the Supervalk are dead links now but hopefully someone remembers how!
2.  Also want to install back off brake flasher and assume their is a common brake wire (color?) Somewhere in right side cover?  Thanks again as usual!  Brad

When I did mine I spliced into the existing wires that go to the IS tail lights. Might not be the best way but has worked for many years.

This. Still workin NO issues. And in addition to the Bons L E D trunk light mod there is an L E D in the tourer/standard assembly. Take yer time Not that difficult. Solder and shrink wrap are yer friends!  2funny I can Not emphasize this enough-NO/NONE/NADA Scotch loks. Stay the heck away from them. You use scotch loks yer just inviting electrical problems later on down the line. RIDE SAFE.

Attempting to accomplish this without a 12v test light is folly.

Just saying.

If you ordered both halves of the sub-harness that runs from the right side cover through the fender assembly, it's basically plug and play except for the brake wire. All other wires (running [for tag illumination], each turn signal, ground) already run through the fender. The lights for the trunk are a totally separate harness/connection. Unplug the old ones and plug the new ones in. Discard old harness. You'll know which wire color the brake is since it'll be the only one left from the new harness at the side cover end (I think it's green/red stripe, but not positive). There's not an extra spot for the brake signal on the bike side since the trunk lights use a 3-pin plastic connector instead of the bullet connectors for the fender lights, and making a jumper would require extra parts. I just used a T-Tap for the brake signal when I added it to my old Interstate. Never used a light flasher, can't help you there.

My recollection is to remove the A & B sub harness from the Interstate, and replace with the A & B for a Std/Tourer.

You'll need to verify if the trunk is still wired in. I can't tell from the schematics, and I know it uses a 3 pin connector.

I was going to add a Y connector into the bullet plug of the main harness and A. Just know that Honda uses a 3.5 bullet connector, not the stock 4mm size you get in the store.

sells them, and there is another company too.

Didn’t have nor use one when I did mine. Wasn’t very difficult at all.

What means is that the Interstate's A and B sub-harnesses is replaced with a Standard/Tourer sub-harness. So there's isn't any searching around for wires where a test light is handy. The only thing is that the Standard/Tourer harness has an extra wire (G/Y). The extra wire is the brake light wire which makes sense since you're adding a brake light to the rear fender. Use a jumper to tap the extra wire into an existing G/Y wire or a G/R wire. G/Y is reserved for the brake light (Honda). The Interstate has two brake lights on the trunk. The branch wires to the brake lights are G/R.

Thank you all for the great help. As soon as the parts come in,  I hope to be all set.

When I obtained by Valk  in '08, she already had a tourer tail light installed and a back off brake module.  I did notice that some how they had it setup so that the trunk lights and tail light did not blink at the same time.  Really noticeable.  I have not gone to the effort of figuring how they wired it.  If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks everyone (especially Ron for the diagram).  It all went in smoothly.  Since I had the lower fender off for the wiring I ended up cleaning it up and spraying some undercoating on it.  I also had to get new bolts for the tail light as the ones that were originally for the plastic blank out cover were 5 mm too short.  Just a 5x25 bolt.   Brad
