'78 GL1000. All original except exhaust... which is period correct (for collector status registration). Life-long MC mechanic and collector is selling here locally.. he's had it for 8 years . Runs great... rebuilt carbs and clutch, new Progressive shocks, re-upholstered seat, new waterpump, stator, battery, newer tires, brakes over 50% and rotors look good... clean as a whistle top to bottom. Paint is excellent... no rust and only minor chrome pitting on the signal stems. Plastic is even mostly free from oxidization. About 120,000 km, and comes with newer shield, Honda bags and rack. I've been looking for an old naked Wing just for something to bomb around on locally that is ride-ready... not needing a lot of work. This definitely appears to be that. Insurance is expensive up here and you can't combine multiple bikes , so with collector status I could add something like this on its own insurance for under $300 (another 3 years and my Valk will have same status and I'll save a grand on insurance on it as well ). I'm curious what those of you who collect, rebuild these old Hondas would value this at...Thx

Not to rain on your parade but if you are not fixing it yourself it gets expensive. My buddy bought an 1981 1100 for $2000 and by the time it was road worthy he had put in another $3500. It needed a brake rebuild and some new hoses , carb problems and seat recover. He Rode it for a season and sold for $1500. Lots of parts are no longer available. If your looking for cheap insurance a 1994 qualifies . St1100 's are available for $2500 with not to many miles. If I was buying the bike you're looking at I would be in the $2000 - $2500 range depending on condition. There are so many good deals on bikes in the lower mainland.
I bought an old BMW that had a $10,000 restoration for way less than the price of the parts. People some times sink more money into their bike that they will never recoup
Hope this helps. Good luck with your search

Agree with Dusty. When I restored my old 79 DT175, you could get parts like pistons easily enough but everything else was very hard to find. I got lucky and found a parts bike and got what I needed. Mind you, it sounds like a lot of the work has been done already. You’re going to have to add onto your garage with the Valk, an old Wing, the F6B and the Africa Twin...I added that last one because you need one with all the cool backroads around there.

It's a beauty of a bike ! I'm not too sure about the luggage rack and the saddlebags though. I have no idea of the monetary value of it. But, I would say there is much value in enjoying our lifetime of labor at our ages. If it's something you would enjoy, your wife has no issue with, and you have room to take care of it, I SAY GO FOR IT !

That's a sweet looking Wing I'd go along with the 2.5 -3K estimate.

Agree...the man has already done quite a bit of the needed work and that is worth something. The old wings down here are pretty cheap but very few have been owned and gone through by someone like this fellow. When they do come up they fetch a price such as has already been suggested. Looks like a nice bike!

I fix my own bikes, and I wouldn't worry about it buying the 1100. But unless you want a 1st gen GW for some other reason, like Dusty said, there are a lot of pre 95' bikes around, but the 95' & 96' are a lot cheaper (pre collector, that's how I bought my 88' GW), and you only have 6-18 months to wait for collector status. There's also this 90' GW for $5K, more your size too. https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rds/mcy/d/delta-1500gl-honda-goldwing/7112902615.htmlThen again, like Beardo said, get an off road bike for when you go fishing.

This is my 82 Aspencade, got it from a mechanic who loved on it for many years. He rebuilt the carbs, did full brakes, new clutch, rebuilt front forks, clutch cable, new tires and a host of other goodies. It has around 61,000 on the clock, somebody had painted it prior to him.. not perfect but it looks great and gets a lot of looks/compliments. People can't believe it's an 82 when I tell them. I saw it listed on CL for $2000 and was interested.. it sat there for 3-4 weeks and he lowered the price to $1600. At that point I had to check it out.. it runs like a dream, I love to cruise on it as a bagger, though I have the trunk too. I take it to go running at a lake about 15 miles from my place, there's some great twisties most of the way, so I sit back and carve while she sings under me.. I love this bike, not as much as my standard, but she's a real gem. Anyway, I paid him the 1600 but forgot my damn helmet, so he threw in a Harley D convertible helmet for free. Best deal for sure, if you want to ride an older wing, I'd buy it.. Maybe offer $2000.00 and see how he reacts?

Thx everyone for the comments. He's asking 3500 for it...about 700 - 800 more than others of similar but not quite as good shape . I think I'll pass...always liked this particular year of Wing, but if I'm going to get a second bike it should for a different type of riding. Guess I'll start looking for a good deal on an adventure touring bike instead.

Hey, you live in the country now, isn't your Tundra a 4X4? High rise it, get it another 2' in the air, roll bars and lights with steel bumpers, then you'll fit in good with the G'old boys out in the Boondocks.
