They claim to be a Valkyrie engine, but the valve covers look like from a Goldwing 1500.

The final drive (FD) seems like the one from the GL1000.

I wonder if that will be able to handle the torque of the flat six? I known that in a valkyrie, the FD is pretty much on borderline stress.

I have those covers on mine.  don't see reverse parts, so if it is a non-japan valkyrie engine, it is a valkyrie engine.

The article says it's a Valk motor with 50th anniversary polished valve covers....meanin Wing valve covers. This year is the Wing's 50th anniversary. I'd love to know the details on the carb setup.

From the article: "He pulled the original fuel system on the Goldwing and installed two banks of carburettors from a 1968 Porsche 911."

Further details would be nice.

those valve covers came on the '99-00 GWs. They were chrome on the '00 25th Anniversary Edition SE only.

Not all 'Wings had reverse.

Could be a 3 barrel Weber downdraft setup.  Weber's was the hot setup for a lot of Euro cars. I had a the 2 barrel version on a tricked out Volkswagen bug long ago...

Honda could perfectly use this build as a source of inspiration and release something classic/old school like BMW did with the new R18:

Personally I love the R18.  It's the coolest and most inspired retro bike since the '97 Valkyrie!  It will be interesting to see how it sells.  Who knows, it may attract some new riders.

Have not ridden a BMW since 1970 and that was a 1965 model with the old earls forks and such.
But I think I would love to give 1800 a worth while ride.
