Thinking of pulling the trigger on a heater for our 24' above ground pool. Wondering if any of you have one? If so, what brand, reliability, chronic problems, longevity? Any tips, tricks or advice? Also, nat gas or propane?

Had one on a 16 x 32 feet (19,000 gallons) inground pool. Get Natural gas if available - propane is rather expensive. COnsider getting a heatpump one (depending on relative cost for gas vs. electricity).

Had natural gas... it did not last more $ than I want to spend
16 x 24 4' deep pool
Now use the solar blanket and in a few days temps get up into 80 degree range
Of course I dont open the pool till the whirlybirds (some call em pugnoses) finish dropping from the neighbors huge tree the 2nd week of June
It gets so warm some days I run the pump at night to cool it down

I had a pool many years ago. I found the most expensive style to install was the cheapest to run. The cheapest to install was the most expensive to run. My daughter swam year around. I would tell her to get a warm shower while I made hot chocolate.
