Yep you shoulda just left the old oil in her just check it from time to time and top it off if needed. Had a Honda push mower once that was bought at a yard sale. (Actually there were 2) gave a whole $25 for both

the owner said neither ran and hadnt in a couple of years. Long story short I took the carb off of one and put on the other and with one pull of the rope she was running. Used it probably 10 years never changed the oil. Gave it to my brother and bought a new one (dont know why to this day

) and he used it for a couple yrs and then gave it to his wifes sister as far as I know it is still running. On start up it would run the mosquitoes off for about 30 seconds then clear up and purr all day.
