The point is that the defense with the information of the drug will argue that the LEOs were not directly responsible for the victim's death. At that point murder at any level will not stand. Excessive force or improper behavior could stand but without a murder conviction the crowds will go mad again.

... But with all of this info, a 2nd degree murder charge, unless there's some big info we don't know (I.E. They had a grudge from when they were co-workers) is a stretch too far. ...
They, the policemen, are going to get found not guilty regarding the murder charge. Get ready for another wave of rioting. Yep, just like Jess alluded to.

And, politics and riots being what they are, they cannot just come out and offer him a plea to some lower level felony excessive use of force charge; which the man would very likely happily plead guilty to (and take whatever sentence they give him on it) (in lieu of a murder trial, we'd all plead guilty to that).
And yet it is possible that after a big (hopefully NOT televised) circus show trial (with mad media coverage), that is exactly what he might end up being found guilty of. And then we get the riots, burning and looting all over again.
The fun just never seems to stop.

I have this same bad feeling in my gut. This is setting up to go directly to appeal if convicted and if the state cannot make their case in court and they are acquitted heaven help us, stuff is really going to hit the fan. I watched the state AG give his news conference the day the other 3 were charged and the charges were upgraded and to to be honest he did t sound very confident. He even alluded to how difficult it is to get a guilty verdict on a police officer.

You're right the jury will be so intimidated, their life will be over if they don't vote to convict.
