This kinda hit home, although I haven't had a pooch for a few years now. Felt it would be unfair to him/her since up until the last couple years we've traveled a lot. I plan on getting another before long now, but don't want a little one. It has to be one with some size, but not a horse like a Great Dane...although my eldest has two and they still think they're lap dogs. I'd love to find a 2-3 year old Golden Retriever, as long as it's past the puppy stage. That's for my wife's benefit, her health issues would make it difficult for her to handle a rambunctious puppy, even though her heart melts every time we stop at a pet store and she holds one.

I forget who it was that said: "If dogs don't go to Heaven, then I want to go where they go."  I couldn't agree more.

John, just one suggestion, when it comes time, Please do NOT get a puppy from a pet store/shop.  They come from puppy mills.  You could end up with a dog with a whole lot of health issues.  Ask your local Vet for suggestions for reputable breeders  in your area.  You will be glad you did.

My son was asking me the other day If I knew anyone looking for a dog. I believe it was a Golden Retriever. It belonged to his Buddy's Grandparents.  I got the impression they were moving in to  a retirement home or somewhere they could keep the dog. The dog was full grown and not a pup.

It is in Mobile Al about 7 hours from you if interested I can check into it for you.

Tom, I would love to take up that offer but wouldn't want the poor thing to go through the stress of being torn from their beloved masters and face a long trip on top of it. Hopefully someone in the area can take the dog and periodically go visit the elder folks...would be good for both the dog and the grandparents.

Thanks for the offer though.

My Sis and Bro-in-law just got this border collie last week in an animal rescue deal! Her name is 'Flour". I insist the spelling be like the gravy ingredient, not the posy. Good deal for me, they pick up the poop, I get to play with the dog! coolsmiley

Flour casting me a baleful look.

No Problem, I agree it would be nice if someone locally could do that for them.  I would love to take the dog but their energy and up keep requirements are a little too much for my work schedule.

Attached is the email from my son and a photo of the dog if you or anyone can help place this dog. I am not sure if it is still available or not but will check into it if needed.

My wife and I get our dogs from animal shelters.  So far, we have one Shitsu, 2 maltese, one Dutch Shepard, and one Golden Retriever.  Guess which 2 get to stay in the back yard during the day.  Yeah, it cost a lot to get them updated on their shots and healthy again but they need just as much love as any.

Here's our Dylan.  Got him from the pound at about 6 months old.  He's such a good little boy.  Very friendly, playful, and affectionate.  He's almost 2 1/2 years old now and for a Boxer, he's only 50 lbs.

Rescue is the way to go  cooldude

Here is Bruno, our second rescue Lab...

According to the folks we got him from, the previous owner 'gave him up', because he chewed a pair of shoes...  He was 4 months old at the time...  Some folks just should not own pets  uglystupid2

Now, he's just another kid...  At just under 100 lbs, he thinks he's a lap dog, and we do nothing to make him think different  Wink

Speaking of two Great Danes, here are our ladies. Pinky: white Dane we've had for two weeks. She is deaf and was rescued from a puppy mill. She is 2 or 3 and still thinks she is very much a puppy.
Daisy: black Dane we've had since she was 3 months. She is now 10 months and also came from a Dane rescue here in Wisconsin. In our opinion, Danes are the best ones out there!

Steve K: My mom has a whole pack of Cresteds. She breeds and shows the little buggers.

I will try and remember about your Mom.  I think having a Hairless would be nice.  Sassy came from a breeder in Bryant, SD.
I suppose your Mom has both Powder Puff's and Hairless?  This is our first Crested.  They are absolute Clowns.  Our Sassy can entertain herself for hours.
In the first picture "Mom" has put two ponytails on top of her head and she is just acting silly...which is how she acts most of the time.  She is a very "busy" little dog.

Yep, she has both the hairless and puffs. The hairless don't do so well in the WI winter, but of course my Great Danes don't either. They're fun little dogs with spunky personalities for sure. The hairless are a conversation piece to say the least! I think she has 8 right now, 4 hairless and 4 puffs. Enjoy yours, and if you ever want to add another, she would be happy to hook you up with a good breeder.

This is our first Christmas with Sadie, a 18 month old black lab.  We picked her up at a shelter in Feb....  She is the sweetest addition to the family I could have hoped for.
