Hopefully better than the people surrounding this fiasco!

Owner had it for two months and took it into a dealer in Jacksonville. The story goes that the owner found out about the car falling off the lift on an Instagram posting! The other side looks just as bad.

The Owner may be having a great day.  Looks like a brand new car is going to be bought to replace that.

I thought that was a new mid engine Corvette at first, but you could be right about the NSX.

Anyway  - the shop now owes him an equal  replacement - and yes, that IS what they are supposed to carry insurance for....

2020 C8 Corvette. It’s a sticky situation for sure. This guy got on the list to buy one and when the production started he still had to wait months for delivery. I’m not sure how they are being sold today as all 2020 production has been sold out for a while so a replacement would have to be a 2021. I just saw the other day, a 2020 for sale at a dealer in Cincinnati, the window sticker was $89K+ and the dealer had it priced at $102k.

It looks like they could repair it.
But I would be pissed if it was mine.

It most likely can be repaired. The “but/however “ is that the car will have a car fax report that the car was damaged in a accident. On an expensive sports car that’s a bad bad thing to have on a car fax report. Reduces resale value greatly.

My dad had the same thing happen to a car in his shop in the 70's.. he was able to get it down and the car wasn't damaged. Different world these days, if I remember right it was a big Buick Electra.

Being a dealership, they had to make it right or, they wouldn't have stayed in business long.   I have no doubt someone lost their job over this and to be honest, they probably should have.   I'm happy for the owner.   My luck never works out that way.

I would think it depends on the laws of that state.

There is usually a pretty good price difference in the year of manufacture.  First year and early production vehicles usually bring more money.

I darn near lost one many years ago while changing a motor mount on a '64 Impala. I was able to hold on to the car while service mgr. ran over after I yelled to him and raised the lift to save the day.

shop insurance should cover it and if was my 100K corvette,  I would want a new one or give me price paid for it and then another 20K on top of it based upon market conditions.

3 years ago had one of the supposedly most reputable repair shops repair my 1 year old truck pd. 35K for it and once the deer damage of 2500 done to mostly right front quarter panel, grille, etc. they called first thing said good news, bad news.  NOTHING EVER comes out of that from a repair shop.

Good news repairs from deer done,  bad news the shop flunkie closed their door inside on the roof of my truck denting it in.  NO sensors on doors they said.  I ask owner if they think it is SMART move to not have sensors when a repaired vehicle is sitting in their doors to go back up ASAP if accidentally pushed button?   Insurance covered it but took another 3 days them providing a rental vehicle I beat the snot out of luckily did not blow it up.... One of my old machine shop bosses is trying to get a small Tool & Die shop going. I’ve helped him a little here and there. He found an outstanding deal on a big surface grinder and arranged shipping with Fed Ex Ground.
I can understand how something in a big crate might have some damage to a side. ( I used to push full dress Harley crates off the back of a semi on to a couple road grader tires ). This grinder has damage on three sides that is so catastrophic the machine is done. Repairs were quoted at $41k on a machine that cost him $13k. His money is tied up in a carcass. The seller built a more than adequate crate for truck shipping. FEG destroyed it and is not cooperating at all, even though the driver alerted the receiver to some of the damage.

On my side of the fence...I am in the process of rebuilding my old chop. I bought a new 21” front tire, made a rim strap from the old tube and pulled a tube off a shelf in my backyard shop. When I opened it a receipt fell out from 9/99. I wondered about a 20 year old NOS tube still being any good. It seemed fine and along I went with mounting. I’ve mounted a lot of tires by hand and haven’t pinched a tube in 40+ years.
Until this one.
Maybe the big man upstairs is watching over me. I’ve got another tube that’s only 4 years old. I’ll be extra careful with that one.
