An army special forces unit in my area asked me to make a display case for their mascot, a serpent (rattle snake).

They will come pick it up next week but it’s all done now

Jeff , I have seen other pictures of your work. They all look awesome.  The rattler will make the other snakes want to trade places.  2funny

It's a good looking display, well made.

I don't see the fangs in the rattler.  Did he live as a defanged mascot?

Does he come and go as befits special forces?

Didn't see any locking mechanism on that

Lol Carl, the taxidermist removed the fangs and replaced them with fish bones. Not that visible. He said it’s possible to get harmed by the residue of venom in the fangs. Oh well.

Very nice. I really miss working in wood. 5 years at school, and dad and his buddies had made a man cave wood shop in one of their garages. Wood burning stove and all. Nice hang out for drinking.

They made 100's of round picnic tables, sold, gave and raffled at church. Solid knot-less cedar. One guy worked at a mill, and got the waste boards. 40 years later, and most are still standing, in BC's wet weather.

But of course

Yep, asked the wrong question. Brain fart once again. What type of glue ? I've been  using CA [ super glue] with the activator for quite some time. Just wondering if you use it or what you think about it. Mostly for interior trim, I do quite a bit of that. My furniture making is limited and usually only to outdoor stuff.

I use a lot of epoxy resin from US Composites.com. But on this one just Tite bond III woodworkers glue.  It has done great over the years

Nice work man!

Did you temper the glass? I wouldn't think it necessary.. but with all the liability crap going on these days you never know. Of course, I'm in Commiefornia.. so there's that.

I did not realize it was a dead snake and the last poster probably did not either

The taxidermist line finally gave it away for me

Should not have assumed it was alive.  Y'all know the 1st 3 letters of assume..............
