Sold my 98 Tourer today I should feel happy knowing I will be buying something else soon but I think I will mis this bike!  And this group you have all been a great source of info as well as a friendly nice group!
I'm on the fence between a Harley and a Goldwing most likely the Goldwing will win.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here stay well, I'm sure I will still be reading the post!

I did the same thing a couple years ago, went with a new Goldwing and love it. I do miss the Valk, but I do enjoy being able to ride without having people constantly coming up to me at stops wanting to ask about my bike.  Grin

I still hang around here...good people.

You're making the leap.

Depending if you want newer or older, the GW GL1500 mechanically is not to far off from the Valk, so the knowledge base is still there.

The GL1800, now is a nice different bike. I believe I recall it being a little lighter, all the bells-whistles that you could want, but newer.

goldwingsdoc.com is a resource for the GW.

H-D, I can only say why? To me, it's like fashion, I'm not into it at all. If you want the cruiser, then there are a lot more out there that are better and more reliable. Why get a bike that will be in the shop more days in one year, than your GW would be in it's life time.

Update
Today I test drove a a Harley Electra Glide and quickly made up my mind I will be buying a Goldwing!  I actually enjoyed riding the Harley but not something I want as a regular thing.
I'm going to check out a bike tomorrow and if it is as nice as the photos I will be driving it home tomorrow.
It will be a long night tonight!
I aslo have a doctor's appointment 9am to get cortisone injections in my albow not looking forward to this but I am looking forward to the pain relief I'm expecting.

Glad you like the Wing Dave, cause your old Valk is truly a KEEPER smitten

I thought I wanted a Goldwing, Luckily I kept the Valk, just added a Goldwing to the stable. after about a year I kept the Valk and sold the Wing. Then I added an 1800 Valk to the stable. I'll keep the Valks. I guess I'm not a Wing guy.
I like Harleys too, have 3, but the Valks get most of the ride time.

I just can’t warm up to the new Valk. I’ve got my C14 for the sporty stuff and soon an OG Valk. Might add the new Rocket 3 GT down the line...

I know what it means to miss a bike.  I sold my 1967 Bonneville in 1971 and am still kicking myself in the butt.
