So this story has been in the news recently and I’m surprised it hasn’t gained much more interest given the scope scope of current social conditions and unrest.
https://www.nj.com/burlington/2020/06/videos-new-details-revealed-in-killing-of-unarmed-man-by-nj-trooper-after-traffic-stop-grand-jury-to-review-case.htmlWithin that news article are 2 videos. The first is 40 minutes, the second is about 12 minutes.
If you read the article first it will explain the man (from NY) is pulled over (in far South New Jersey) for speeding, 110mph in a 65(?) zone. I believe it is 65 in that area, we don’t have anything higher in N.J, I don’t believe it’s 55. So long story short is the man is pulled over, car dies (half on left shoulder/half in left travel lane) will not start. Officer asks him to remain in his car, he does stay in car but tries to exit a couple times and officer asks him to remain in car.
The man eventually exits car completely and officer asks him if he wants it sit in his patrol vehicle, the man says yes and officer puts him in back seat while waiting for service truck to tow the mans car since it is dead on the road. While in the car the officer tries to engage the man in conversation, tells him he will drive him where he needs to get to.
The man does not seem to want to speak to the officer but the officer continues to engage the man in conversation explaining he will do his best to get him where he needs to go, it’s a very cordial conversation on the officer’s part, yet the man seems very tight lipped and uninterested in conversation. He did at one point say he was going to an auto dealership but all dealerships are closed due to C19. At one point the officer asked if the man would like a face mask.
While in the back seat the man twice unbuckles his seatbelt and the officer asks him to rebuckle his belt.
Then he unbuckled again and leaves the vehicle. That’s when a struggle starts. It leads away from patrol vehicle on shoulder of road and the man escapes the grasp of the officer and tries to get in driver seat.
Officer attempts to remove and struggling continues, then shots are fired. It’s not clear if attempt was made at officer’s sidearm.
The second video is a montage of the man’s (4) other interactions with LEO’s that same (very early) morning.
One other time, about 15 minutes prior he was stopped for speeding at 101mph and was issued a citation.
I watched these videos, especially the one where the shooting occurred and something isn’t right at all with this man and the whole story line of him (excessively) speeding, breaking down or running out of gas, his whole persona (evasive, elusiveness, non conversational) while with the officer in the patrol car and sudden decisions leading to him getting shot.
Something had to be going on with this guy, he had to be going toward Atlantic City for a specific purpose at such an early time, at such a high rate of speed for a reason. I don’t think it was for the gambling, I don’t think casinos were open yet. There are drugs in A/C but coming from NY there’s drugs there.
Too many questions yet to be revealed here, but we will have to wait and see.
