hey,  some scooters are not too slow.  My 249cc single cylinder scooter will do 78 mph top speed,  comfy all day long 65 mph and my 638cc scooter top speed 112 mph will do 90 mph comfy all day long....    My 249cc up to say 45 mph smokes HD's off the line while my 638cc smokes higher end sports/luxury (bmw roadster/Porsche) cars with V8, higher end V6 engines up to say 60 mph, done both several times.

when looking for a scooter years ago, I tried one 50cc and one 150cc and said NO way only doing 30 mph top speed on 50cc and 55 mph top speed 150cc floored both could smell the engines burning up in the 5 miles I drove them both hauling around my big butt...    There is a reason why my 638cc scooter Vtwin 54 hp rear bridgestone rear cycle tire was down to the cords at only 6000 miles.

I watched it a few days ago, sounds like they really pushed them selves a little to hard to try and keep up with their schedule but it was interesting.
