Gone to Hell. I stop on this bridge on a long and lonely highway east of Lancaster a lot...... It's a good place to stop for a break in the shade. Rarely does anyone acknowledge that I'm there as they pass by. Today in less than 15 minutes I had three different vehicles stop and ask if I was OK.
The first was a VERY LARGE black man on a Hyabusa... I thanked him and he was off. The second was a Redneck type in an old Chevy pickup. I thanked him and he was off. The third was a very nice couple in a late model Mustang. I had a short conversation with them. As the drove off I thought maybe the world is making some changes.......  Smiley

maybe if you stayed on that bridge a little longer, the next one would be a hot chick on a cycle asking you if you need a helping hand.   Oh YES so much I would say.... Grin

Mark,

Larue is so correct! If our major input is the TV, it's easy to become overly cynical and think all is nearly lost. But, as you have done and are doing, when one gets out and about, it doesn't take long at all before what our Florida friend said becomes readily apparent!!! Nice and timely post! Thanks...

Wife and I have been walking in the morning (early morning- 0630) with dog.  Been noticing more coming and going waving as they drive by.  Even folks we meet on the walking trail are more friendly.  All folks, white, black, brown, green, etc.    All folks.   Kind of nice.

The anarchist nutcases on the TeleVee are a vocal, violent minority.  America's roots are deep and strong, and won't be erased or rewritten by removing monuments and primal screaming.

What makes America great are good folks of all colors and creeds.  Thankfully, they are plentiful.

It shows in driving, and while you are in the stores. I like this change for the better.

The anarchist nutcases need to be slapped down so fast and so hard they won't know what hit them. And be gracious to the rest of the people.

I think, the real people, the real citizens of the US have to remember they have the power.  We always have.

There are those that wish to take away that power, to divide us and by dividing change the United States of America.

I believe that, while we may be incensed, angered, and concerned, if we let that influence our day to day interactions with each other, we will lose that power.

We need to live our lives as we always have, proud, but humble, knowing that we are the greatest nation on the face of the earth.  And while there are many who would like to see that change, it can only happen if we let it.

A phrase comes to mind.  "Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti".  I must admit I might not do that but I still hold the door for someone, smile at strangers in passing, say "Yes Sir" and "Thank You".  Even to people much younger than myself.  Its just something that comes naturally.

I think people out and about driving are worse now than prior to this pandemic.  I think some forgot how to drive being couped up for so long and I never used to get passed doing 64 mph in a rural 55 zone, but now I do more often.  Then I get those tailgaiting me doing 64 mph like 10-15 feet tops behind my rear bumper.   uglystupid2

As far as shopping in stores, is a toss up.  I still get upset when the stores nearby me still are not stocked on stuff they should have easily in stock.   Same response from store workers are either the supply trucks are not in yet backlogged on shipping product to them or people are still hoarding certain products especially if they are on sale.
