I have to pull the rear brake off for inspection including the cast brake brake. So, I am wondering if I set the jack under the swing arm and set a board under the rear wheel on the the ground,  such that it does not move when I pull the axle back just enough to pull the brake plate out.....I am thinking it will be ok on the axle torque reassembly without doing the break loose the torque on the 4 drive shaft bolts.
-Did you get that? I would rather not break the drive shaft bolts, or phoey, I should do it.
I am not removing the wheel at all.

You guys sure like to Kabitz of lots of stuff, so whadya think on this one.  Break drive shaft bolts or it will be ok to not do it. (I admit, I'm kinda leaning that way, the wheel is not moving)

Free beer to all....   Cheesy

If the last wheel removal included the alignment of splines, then you shouldn’t Need to loosen the 4 bolts. In order to get the axle out, you’ll have to remove the shocks and raise the swing arm so that the axle is above the muffler.

Oh, forgot to say, the muffler is not on the bike. Axle is ez access for the moment.

It is possible to remove the caliper from the caliper plate by unscrewing the pins. It’s just usually much easier to pull it as a unit

Thanks- yeah, I know that, for this job I need to inspect the brake plate... Calipers off, brake plate is off...
