I guess I don't around much. I just heard about Byrna, went to their website and bought one. There is quite a backlog/wait though. They also claim they will ship tp upstate NY, but, they won't with CS or pepper spray  ammo.

Anyone ever used/own one ?  What do think of them.

I seems like if one was to pull a thing that looks like a gun
and shoot it at someone, it better be a gun?

I like the idea, but...

I'd rather keep the option of lethality just in case the bad guy(s) or gals were carrying more than pepper balls.  Now, what I could envision getting my attention is if a manufacturer came up with something like those Colt. 410/.45 derringers with one of the barrels Byrna capable.

Better yet, ammo makers should also make pepper rounds in different calibers that could be "interlaced" with something deadly.  Warning one, pepper.  Warning two (?*), pepper.  Strike three, yer out.

Well, when I get it and ever feel the need to use it I'll let you know how it goes. If I survive and any of us are still alive. Our bikes should hopefully be old antiques by then.

Yes indeedy.  It looks like it would subdue a mean drunk (or two) or similar problem pretty well.

And it could probably be used in defense of a less than lethal threat (unlike a real firearm), but there better be some threat sufficient to use it beyond simple irritation (like a mother in law) or it's an assault.

But considering the number of legally and illegally armed people, AND the cops,  it could easily be mistaken for a real firearm, and draw real bullets in response.  No matter how brightly colored.

If I had it on me in a 7-11 hold up type scenario, I don't think I'd show or use it.

No one would probably mistake a big can of bear spray for a firearm.

Or Kimber's Pepper Blaster either (2 shots). Which I have recommended for daughters and wives with no firearm training or desire to carry.

I wonder how it would work on a hornet's or yellow jacket nest?  You better have your running shoes on.

Check your state and local ordinances. Many, maybe most cities, suburbs have an ordinance banning any thing launching  a projectile be it Air, spring, rubber band, gun powder. Including potato launchers. You can own them but you can’t fire them. Roll Eyes

Indeed, it is unlawful in my (VA) county to shoot firearms, pellets, BBs, slingshots, bows, blowguns, you name it, unless you happen to own significant acreage.  It's even illegal to throw a rock (if you happen to hit a house).  Strangely, (massive) fireworks of all types seem to be no problem (legal or not).

However, you might be forgiven (or not charged) IF it was found you were clearly acting in self defense in all particulars (at your own risk).

yikes time to move...   NO BB gun or slingshot and no throwing rocks?    what is next,  I just picked up sticks in my backyard and tossed them into the farmers field/fenceline area some 10 feet away.  will I go to jail?    You should have heard the outrage in my local small town when they banned for about 1 month burning barrels from this pandemic B.S. going on.    Our 1st death did occur though a few days ago over this virus in my county was an older person who had previous health issues.   I doubt he got it though from our burning barrels spreading the virus....   Funny on the fireworks part even our small town, although not enforced,  does not allow fireworks during July 4th weekend, although a lot of people still do them in the streets/backyards, etc.
