After the short ride fired up charcoal grill, teriyaki marinated Ribeye, grilled corn on the cob, fried okra, loaded bake potato, ice tea and then home made Dutch apple pie. Wanted to go for another ride but to sleepy.

sounds yummy I like teriyaki flavored meats, minus the okra... You know when sweet corn season picking is here sometimes freeze quart bags of about 20 or so and nibble off each ear of corn when carving it up with the knife. The next day yellow stuff comes out the other end of me that is when you know you had way too much sweet corn.....

Grew up in around Tulsa, had okra grown in garden every year I can remember. Really never liked it but folks did. Can relate to your being too full to ride more. Sounds like a great meal, but your failed to invite the rest of us.

I've had okra at dozens of BBQs in Texas and Oklahoma, and it's always battered and deep fried. I'm curious, is there any other way to prepare it?

My mom had a recipe, wish I could find it for Cheryl to duplicate. She had a technique that completely de-slimed the okra. If I remember it was then lightly breaded (cornmeal?) and fried with taters and onion. Not sure how she spiced it up. It was soooo good!

Fresh sliced okra out of the freezer bag it, put in microwave till good and slimy add cornmeal to bag, cornmeal sticks to slime, no longer slimy hot oil in cast iron pan fry till brown or as I like it, almost burnt. put in large bowl, toss with salt EAT.
The slime holds the cornmeal and goes away during frying. We fry squash the same way, uuuummm.
