Around the clock "work" right up until Christmas eve to pass a health bill. I'm sure with that kind of pressure we will get another fabulous law-policy on the books. File this one right next to the NAFTA books.

I'm guessing we will have those lower taxes next year right?

The sad thing is....its never really been about medical care.....its all about the progressive liberals finally controlling more and more of the GDP.......power and control, thats why they are still pushing even though the government option is out, and even though medicare expansion is out.......even though just about as many people that arent covered now will still be not covered if this passes......irrelevant.......just pass it now or everyone will die.  Dont read it heavens! that will take a whole day, just pass it, its a good thing trust me.   Wink

Am I the only one that wouldnt buy this used car?  uglystupid2

Agreed chrisj.  I wouldn't want to buy that used car either.

I wish they'd stop all efforts right now.  It's not that I'm against a universal type heathlcare, because I'm not.  I'm for the basic idea of it.  It's just that when politicians are involved, what we'll get will be the influence bought and paid for by the lobbyists and special interests....and those interests will not be in our interest.

What I would hope for instead, would be an honest and intellegent blue ribbon type of appointed panel that would be free of political influence that would be appointed to study all options from what every other country that has tried this and pick and chose from the best, most successfull and most cost effective of those programs and then apply them here.

No one in this country should have to go bankrupt simply becuase they get sick.   But what congress is doing now is making me extremely nauseous.

Yes, it does.  That's why it should be free of any political influence.

We have the best politicians the lobbyists and special interest's money can buy.  They sure as hell don't work for us.

Highly protected insurance Companies? kinda wondered why AARP jumped on the pubic option so fast, these Insurance Co's have been padding  lawmakers pockets too long. 1300 Insurance Co's Nationwide and some states only get maybe 4 options. Don't kid yourself, even though the public option might not be included in this bill, if they vote the bill in without it, the gov will mandate what gets done, who does it, how much they will get paid, until the private insurance companies will not longer be profitable, when they go broke or out of business we will have no choice but a public insurance program run by the baboons in DC. It is all about votes and power.

Do you realize that one of the liberals just sponsored a bill today that will esentially give amnesty to all the (15 to 20 million) illegal immigrants, this has been done on the QT and under the radar while everyone is debating the health care bill.

ALL OF OUR COMPLAINING ON THESE BOARDS WILL DO NO GOOD! For the most part we are preaching to the choir here, (except for a few)  YOU NEED TO START CALLING YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMAN. They want us complaining to each other because that does not hurt them. We need to voice our opinions directly with them and if they don't listen, VOTE THEM OUT!!!!!!!!

Jim
PS, I am on a black list with one of my senators, he is blocking my emails after I wrote to him and told him to get his head out of his a==. But I feel good about it LOL

The problem is that the government has lost sight of what their job is.

Its there job to insure fair trade between states......thats the true meaning of "regulating" trade IAW the constitution

Its their job to make laws that have some reasonable common sense as far as law suits and frivolous claims that drive costs up

It should be their job to help private insureres compete more effectively with each other instead of with the government....that will drive costs down.

They should be (in this time of recession) lowering the tax burden on folks and especially small business that create jobs and help keep people able to afford medical insurance.

Ya, ok, its not enough to fix everything, but its WAY WAY more than this lousy bill is going to do....plus why in the world should we put 12 million plus people that are here illegally on free medical care, free and as good as American citizens get, or as BAD as American citizens are going to get once this boondoggle takes effect.

They should scrap all efforts that they've come up with to date if for no other reason than that politicians are involved in the process.

I call or write  frequently and usually ask a question or two  and then give my feelings and reasoning. when I call on the phone I get some intern/secretary  asking for my address ..but I always get a written response either way. Usually a generic letter with a COPY of an official signature at the bottom, in blue ink straight off the copy machine, and it always starts with 'thank you for you concern' and ends with " I (as your all knowing representative) know best and will consider your feelings as I do what I damn well please because I feel it will be best for my career and reduce peer pressure upon myself while lining my pockets with lots of green stuff.  Thanx for your vote ,I'll be fine with OR with out it. "

I always respond  Evil but that seems to be where communication comes to an abrupt halt.  tickedoff

I'm veeeery worried about the illegals, trust me.  The uncontrolled tide of illegals flowing over our southern border worries me greatly.  However, I'm more worried about this.......

The reason AARP is for the Health Care Plan is the bill changes the Medicare Supplement Market.  It gets rid of the plans with the highest payout.  AARP sells a plan with a lower payout but it costs the same; therefor, AARP will make more money.  AARP doesn't care about seniors.  It cares about making money.

Sometimes the administration wonders why we post all this political crap.

Probably because we're frustrated and want to listen to each other and come up with some valuable ideas here.

However, it doesn't mean anything because Washington is not listening to us.  They all seem to be taking a page from John Kennedy's book "Profiles in Courage"    In it, the politicians do what they think is good for the country (or them) and not what is good for the people of the country.

I've sent countless emails, called countless times but, with the exception of my district legislator, it seems to have been ignored. Yeah, I've gotten answers but the kind that raises the comment "What did he (she) say?'

It is not glamorous, but we have the power to make and unmake the laws in our hands - with our
votes. All those people in Washington doing all that screwy stuff were put there by us.

Mike, I agree with you on the vote thing, but we have so many people that will not vote or who have never even registered. If the white people would register and vote as the black and minority voters do, then we might get something done for the majority for a change......

I am a little stumped and somewhat offended by this comment.  This was the first election in as long as I can remember where the black and minority votes increased substantially.  And even with the increases, whites outnumbered them substantially.  This ain't a black/minority issue, pal!!!!!!  This is a two party issue where one party gained over the other, just like all the rest have been.  If you want change, create some competition with a third, fourth, and fifth party that can run against them and have platforms that are more in line with your needs than with either of the two parties wants.

You think yous guys have it bad??  One of my senators is "we'll tax it all" Chuckie Schumer!  This guy is THE MOST ARROGANT PIECE OF WORK there is.  He called a flight attendant a b*tch for asking him to turn of his phone.

I've written and called.  No reply.  I've also e-mailed my congressperson Nita Lowey......and now all I receive is a form e-mail every month.

It's all madness I tell you.

- 5,000 earmarks in the helathcare bill and we're told to get over it after the 8,000 earmarks in the stimulus bill.
- E-mails from scientists exposed that refute the global warming nonsence and Gore lying and getting caught repeatedly, but H. Clinton promises $100,000,000,000 from the US to move OTHER countries in the green direction
- Obama paying off Clintons election loans with stimulus money
- Tax cheats in the administration every time you turn around
- Safe School Czar behind NAMBLA type organizations
- Apologies to the world for US policies and then no response to Chavez blaming everything bad in the world on the "ghost" in the room....Capitalism.
- Lies about no tax increases, transparency, fairness.
- Policies that don't help the intended in any way, shape, or form.
- Going after families of those that openly disagree.
- Bills pushed through at night, weekends, behind closed doors so that opponents have no say until too late.
- Al Franken denying Lieberman an extra minute to finish his thought (something that has never happened in the senate before)
- Jobs created in places that don't exist
- Millions spent and 5 jobs saved.

Flame suit on.

I think Americans really don't care about their right to vote. All you have to do is look at the percentage of registered voters who turn out across the country for any voting opportunity from local to Federal.

Example.

I live In Roswell, GA. In the recent mayoral election about 9,000 voters bothered to assert their right. That's 9,000 out of a voting population of around 45,000.

For all you free thinkers there are other options. www.dixienet.org seems to have a solution. 10th amendment for me. Besides, after all the tax and spend we are still left with $38,000 debt for each "citizen". illegals get left out cause they got no SS #. If the 10th is exercised then who is left with the debt?

Our votes don't count for squat.  You can vote a different one in every week and it won't matter.  Once they're in, the lobbyists and special interests have bought and paid for them lock, stock and barrel.  They even buy elections.

We, the voting, taxpaying citizens of this country can't buy the kind of influence that lobbyists and special interests do.

Who do you think they really represent?  It sure as hell ain't us.

Untill the influence that these companies pay for is stopped, we'll never have representation.

If this doesn't make you mad, then nothing will.  Please, watch this.......

We agree on this one!   cooldude   As far as the debt after the South secedes, since most Southern states are Federal Welfare states (receive more fed $ than they put in),  the debt would be retired pretty quickly without the burden they represent to the rest of the USA.

"since most Southern states are Federal Welfare state"  But that is ok, then, if all the blacks from Mississippi see how well "reparations" are workin for the Sioux and the Eskimo they will want casino's too !  Us bleedin heart taxpayers wont mind paying for all the wrong doings our forefathers done to them folks either.

BTW   I will go south after the sucession so you can pay my share too...OK?  uglystupid2

Uh ...Roadkill...read carefully...I didn't say all on the list were Southern states now did I? I said most Southern states are on the list.

And hey, secession wasn't my idea - purely a southern thing and promoted by Stormrider and those of his thinking.  I just agreed with him that it's a great idea.  cooldude

As for the rest of your "comment" Roadkill, I can't make any sense of it but it has zero to do with the subject so no big deal

Maybe I did go a little too fast for the DNC way of thinking....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federally_recognized_tribes_by_state .
I am only assuming that a large portion of what Scanner calls "welfare dollars " are going to the federally recognized Indian tribes in the southern ( and DAMN sure NOT so southern states)states including
Poarch Band of Creek Indians of Alabama
   1. Jicarilla Apache Nation, New Mexico
(formerly the Jicarilla Apache Tribe of the Jicarilla Apache Indian Reservation)
   2. Mescalero Apache Tribe of the Mescalero Reservation, New Mexico
   3. Ohkay Owingeh, New Mexico
(formerly the Pueblo of San Juan)
   4. Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico
   5. Pueblo of Cochiti, New Mexico
   6. Pueblo of Jemez, New Mexico
   7. Pueblo of Isleta, New Mexico
   8. Pueblo of Laguna, New Mexico
   9. Pueblo of Nambe, New Mexico
  10. Pueblo of Picuris, New Mexico
  11. Pueblo of Pojoaque, New Mexico
  12. Pueblo of San Felipe, New Mexico
  13. Pueblo of San Ildefonso, New Mexico
  14. Pueblo of Sandia, New Mexico
  15. Pueblo of Santa Ana, New Mexico
  16. Pueblo of Santa Clara, New Mexico
  17. Pueblo of Santo Domingo, New Mexico
  18. Pueblo of Taos, New Mexico
  19. Pueblo of Tesuque, New Mexico
  20. Pueblo of Zia, New Mexico
  21. Zuni Tribe of the Zuni Reservation, New Mexico

Several states:

   1. Navajo Nation, Arizona, New Mexico & Utah
   2. Ute Mountain Tribe of the Ute Mountain Reservation, Colorado, New Mexico & Utah
Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians of North Carolina
   1. Spirit Lake Tribe, North Dakota
   2. Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota

Several states:

   1. Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North & South Dakota
   2. Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota (also in Montana and South Dakota)
   1. Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of the Cheyenne River Reservation, South Dakota
   2. Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of the Crow Creek Reservation, South Dakota
   3. Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota
   4. Lower Brule Sioux Tribe of the Lower Brule Reservation, South Dakota
   5. Oglala Sioux Tribe of the Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota
   6. Rosebud Sioux Tribe of the Rosebud Indian Reservation, South Dakota
   7. Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate of the Lake Traverse Reservation, South Dakota
   8. Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota

Several states:

   1. Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North & South Dakota
   2. Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota (also in Montana and South Dakota)

But still I agree with you. After the succession ,all the other welfare junkies will have to do for them selves or move in with YOU ! Because in the south you worked for room and board if you were a free man or not ! If you want a free ride start at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW

        "You lost me ! ??? "

Where?  I am sorry that I am not as articulate as I once was. Because you are in SD I will ask,do the Sioux indians in your state receive federal money? and might that be part of the reason that brother Scanner lists South Dakota as receiving 1.53  dollars of "welfare" money per dollar paid in ?    My sister in-law is a federal attorney for the indian nations and she says that the Sioux dont get enough reparations for what white man has done to them. she also says that we cant drill for oil in Alaska because then the indigenous  people would get enough welfare to afford indoor plumbing and they just are NOT used to that kind of  amenity !  uglystupid2 So again I must ask...are there a whole crap pile of non working welfare recipients in SD or are the tribes receiving gov't dollars and messing up the statistics that Scanner is trying to attribute to the "South" ?

This is why I dont believe in "stats"... Bean counters screw it up for me every time!  Grin
