For all you free thinkers there are other options. www.dixienet.org seems to have a solution. 10th amendment for me. Besides, after all the tax and spend we are still left with $38,000 debt for each "citizen". illegals get left out cause they got no SS #. If the 10th is exercised then who is left with the debt?

http://www.dixienet.org/New%20Site/video.shtml

We agree on this one!   cooldude   As far as the debt after the South secedes, since most Southern states are Federal Welfare states (receive more fed $ than they put in),  the debt would be retired pretty quickly without the burden they represent to the rest of the USA.

The Tax Foundation - Federal Spending Received Per Dollar of Taxes Paid by State, 2005

2005 Figures (A brief review of annual data from 1981 thru 2005 showed state rankings to be fairly consistent from year-to-year)

Federal Spending Received per Dollar of Taxes Paid

10 Biggest Receivers

1. New Mexico $2.03
2. Mississippi $2.02
3. Alaska $1.84
4. Louisiana $1.78
5. West Virginia $1.76
6. North Dakota $1.68
7. Alabama $1.66
8. South Dakota $1.53
9. Kentucky $1.51
10. Virginia $1.51

10 Biggest Donators
1. New Jersey $0.61
2. Nevada $0.65
3. Connecticut $0.69
4. New Hampshire $0.71
5. Minnesota $0.72
6. Illinois $0.75
7. Delaware $0.77
8. California $0.78
9. New York $0.79
10. Colorado $0.81

About the only thing you bring to the table is stale bread. Go back to sleep. It will be okay Scanner. And btw, according to the Grace report, 100% of personal income tax dollars goes to pay the interest on the money borrowed from the Federal Reserve. And Scanner, the working folks of the south or any other freedom loving peoples don't need the Fed's umbilicle cord tied around their neck. Check it out Scanner ole boy. Check out the Fed and answer me this question. If the Fed is a government entity then why do they charge interest on money borrowed by the governmnet? Wouldn't the government be paying itself back money it just borrowed from itself? I know it's hard for you to comprehend but don't go fretting if you don't get it right. You and millions of others don't get it. Another hard one for you Scanner. What is fiat money? Two more then you can go back to sleep. What is fractional banking? And where in the US Constitution does it grant the Pres or congress the power to take from me to give to anyone else? And for you freedom thinking brothers, the 10th Amendment is available to all states, not just the original 13 colonies or the 13 CSA states.

So far I've attended Tea Parties and tried to attend town hall meetings (there is never enough room for everyone who wants to attend, even if you show up an hour early), written, called and emailed my elected representatives.  I don't think it's done any good.

What I think might work is to vote against every incumbent in the 2010 election.  I've never voted for a party, but rather for the individual, however, it doesn't matter who you vote for any more, or what their views are.  As soon as they take office the party begins putting enough pressure on them that they end up voting whichever way the party wants.  I don't care if it's a Democrat or a Republican, they become a party hack.

If we vote against every incumbent on the ticket in 2010 what we're doing is sending a message.  Even if we don't get those incumbents out, we're letting them know what we think, and forcing them all to at least consider why we want them out of office.  Hopefully they'll understand that it's because we're sick and tired of them representing someone or something other than those of us who put them in office.

So remember, in 2010 vote against every damn incumbent, even those who you might like.  We need to send a message!

Mine as well.  That is the only message they will understand.  I KNOW FOR A FACT that my brother-in-law would do a better job and acomplish more than any of the shiesters that we currently have in office.  He's a truck driver, not a lawyer, he knows the difference between right and wrong.  Those are the people we need in office, not the professional crooks we have now.  WHO'S WITH ME?   VOTE 'EM OUT!

I'm with Scanner on this one. RED STATES SUCCEED ! And then all the welfare recipients will have to move elsewhere for the free ride. Send 'em all to NY and CA. We can have a Democratic Republic once again.

You're using the term "succeed" when I believe...based on the content of the various posts, you mean "secede."  We all know what "succeed" means, but to "secede" is to "withdraw......"

Excuse me, but California has more than just the fruits and nuts that you see on TV.  Some of us believe in fairness, Freedom, free enterprise, and elected representatives who respond to their constituents.  We already have too many welfare recipients and illegals, and we want to get rid of them as much as anyone else.  So don't propose sending any more to us.  Instead, let's elect some representatives who will reduce welfare and other public assistance and instead force healthy people to find work.  Second, let's send illegals back where they came from.  If they want to come here and partake of the good life, let them wait their fair turn and go through the system like they're supposed to.  Then when they get here they learn to speak English, sign up to get a social security number, and begin paying into the system like the rest of us.  Then, and only then will they get my support and respect.

        "You lost me ! ??? "

Where?  I am sorry that I am not as articulate as I once was. Because you are in SD I will ask,do the Sioux indians in your state receive federal money? and might that be part of the reason that brother Scanner lists South Dakota as receiving 1.53  dollars of "welfare" money per dollar paid in ?    My sister in-law is a federal attorney for the indian nations and she says that the Sioux dont get enough reparations for what white man has done to them. she also says that we cant drill for oil in Alaska because then the indigenous  people would get enough welfare to afford indoor plumbing and they just are NOT used to that kind of  amenity !  uglystupid2 So again I must ask...are there a whole crap pile of non working welfare recipients in SD or are the tribes receiving gov't dollars and messing up the statistics that Scanner is trying to attribute to the "South" ?

This is why I dont believe in "stats"... Bean counters screw it up for me every time!  Grin

Nah I'm in Indiana! Hope to be moving to SD in less then 3 years tho. For as much as I know, they do recieve govt money and other things. I don't consider it reparations tho.  ??? The US Gov owed them money since the mid 1800's since the Larimie Treaty was 'violated' by the US. But I don't want to get into that cause I would side with them instead.  Embarrassed I've been through the Pine Ridge and Rosebud resv and all I can say is wow. Its a whole different world there.  Shocked I've been through the city of Yankton but not through the resv. Yankton is a very nice city.
I don't agree with reparations of any kind. Angry

Sorry Fudgie,I dont know why I was thinking you were in S.D. Undecided I did not mean anything negative against the Native Americans, but I do believe they are being paid a form of reparations and that is part of the "welfare dollars " that Scanner mentions before listing several states that receive more money than they pay in.  Just a comparison of dollars to dollars...Not that I dont believe we owe these peoples for their land and mistreatment  Sad

I don't know about the figures scanner was quoting but I do know that Alabama recieves back more Fed tax money than what she sends in. However, not all those dollars are welfare dollars. Most are for mandates and military spending. There are several large military instilations in AL. One being Ft. Rucker. We also have NASA in Huntsville, etc. I figure we keep the profits from the oil off the coast of AL and no one has to work. So no need for welfare, etc. And the Feds can keep their mandates, healthcare reform included.

And as far as the government taking care of us, bullsh__. It's all about the money, always has been and always will be. And as far as voting out the incumbents, there's a lot more just like em lined up to take their place. Just look at AL's governor's race. 3 dems and 5 repubs. All paid professional liars (politicians). Not the first one a contributor to the economy. All takers.

Well I get back to the first statement in this thread by Capt.  It stinks of bribery, intimidation, and socialism.  I thought being a democracy meant (and according to Lincoln) "Of the people, by the people".  However if that were true, this thread would not be here because the Congress and Nobama would know as EVERY poll shows that people are overwhelmingly against government intrusion.  Govern....that is what government does.  Hell they have regulated just about every industry out there without putting their grubby paws on RUNNING it.  Until this bunch.
Second, when the bill is signed, we get TAXED immediately.  However coverage does not start til 2013 or 2014.  So my question is Why the big rush???  Why the closed doors????  Why lie to the public when Obama promised the "debate" would be published on Cspan and NPR radio.  I aint seen nothing except pictures of a closed door.  If this is the GREAT and wonderful legislation it would not be necessary to keep it on the hush hush.  And then the 2000+ pages?  How can ANYONE read let alone understand something so absolutely long winded.  I've read some of the bill(s) that actually got posted and actually got bored and stopped reading out of frustration.  It says NOTHING.  It is just a long winded novel that rambles on and on without making ONE concrete provision.  So where is this transparency that we were supposed to see in this administration????  There is no reason at all to rush this thing.  Legislate/Regulate period.  Make laws saying....no this and no that.  Make a "group" rate for those who are individuals.   But the biggest thing they can do to reduce cost is TORT reform.  But being the "lawyers" they are, this is NOT even being considered AT ALL.  It's pathetic....pure and simple.  And my Senators are not Dems however I have gone down the list of senators even though I am not in their district and told them this is NOT a good thing and they should stop this process.
Also just like Billary in 94, NOT one doctor, hospital administrator, etc has been brought into the process.  Of course, Obama brought em in behind clsoed doors and did a John Gotti on em, but did not ask them for ANY input.  And of course, who can forget the "lawn" party with the "doctors".  I can only imagine they were butchers from the local Kroger store.  They said nothing, just sat politely and listened to the rethoric and propaganda.
And last but certainly not least is the real reason as far as I am concerned.  They want the MONEY  and CONTROL.  They want to control that 20% of the economy that we pay for healthcare.  Just like the TARP funds they will raid the healthcare fund to pay for whatever welfare program(s) they decide we need.  The one thing that does piss me off is that we are paying for  this Obamanation by throwing the elderly under the bus.  Reid and Obama are going to raid Medicare to pay for this thing.
So were going to take coverage from hard working retirees who worked hard all their lives and purchase insurance for a bunch of ingrates who are too lazy to be responsible for themselves.

Ride safe

Why the hurry? Simple, As we know the "Profit" FDR the founder of SSA, this was created as individual trust for each American citizen, But thanks to Politicians it has been tossed into a general fund you know the CANDY DISH.But to add insult to injury as they eat "OUR" CANDY!, This next year SSA will not have been able to handle the FIRST wave of the Baby Boomers, For the first time in history because of the misuse and misappropriation of our SSA they have bankrupted a good thing, Now that the hard working people, the "Baby Boomers" are ready to take their Retirement as the largest group In for claims ever this next 6 months THE Federal Government is in PANIC MODE . They turned it in to a PONSI SCAM, and the Health care it is just a way to cover their SORRY A$$ to get instant taxation to balance their books (If thats what you want to call it!) I had never considered that angle, but what you say makes sense.  We all know that Social Security is on the verge of bankruptsy, and passing this health care bill where we all start paying in now, but nothing changes for 3 or 4 years gives them some real breathing room.   They're also looking at changing the federal employee retirement benefits.  And not for new employees, but for those who have already retired.  Any way to get more money to spend and to remain in power.

So, I'll say it again, in 2010 vote against every incumbent.  It's the only way we have of sending them a message and hopefully forcing them to begin responding to the needs and desires of their constituents.    And no, I'm not running for office, LOL.
