After lengthy conversations with the hotel other Asheville organizations today, this is where we are.

We ARE moving ahead with our event July 13-17 as planned.  The early bird registration and dinner will still be held the evening of July 12.  Things will be a little different than before, but everything listed on the schedule of events is a GO!  Woohoo!

There are some restrictions we will need to abide by.  The first being the mask issue.  This does NOT need to be an actual mask, but can be something as simple as a bandana, zub, etc.  They are requiring a face covering (although it is not strictly enforced).  If you have a note from a physician, chiropractor etc. stating that you cannot wear a mask, you are exempt from that requirement.  We will have masks available at the registration desk for those that may need one.

Restaurants are open at 50% capacity.  Fast food lobbies are also open for dining.  There will be no shortage of places to eat.

The hotel is not doing temperature checks.  They do ask that anyone that exhibits signs of Covid stay in their rooms and contact a medical professional.

The best news is that they WILL have the fresh baked cookies at the front desk 24 hours a day, available to anyone staying at the Doubletree!  Yea!!!!

We realize there is a lot going on and we want to make the best of it!  We encourage all that are registered to please go ahead and come to Inzane!  We want to be able to support our designated charity as best we can, as they are struggling too and we would love to have a good turnout!

I will post updates as more information becomes available.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at motomama.vrcc@gmail.com

Thank you all and I will see you in a few weeks!

Thanks for all you do Lori

So if I get a note that I have the antibodies can I wear the mask backwards?

Just wondering.

Wish I could be there, I need a break. My daughter in law goes into the hospital at 5:30 am on the 16 to deliver our first ever granddaughter and for someone who never had any daughters this will very special for me. I do appreciate all the effort put forth by you and f6gal and others who support you work. It surely must be a labor of love!

Do we have to wear the masks all the time? I find most of them restrict breathing....at least for me.

Just get you doc to write a note that for medical reasons you should not wear a mask.

This is pretty cool...
Each successful blood donor will be give a $20 gift card.
Also, each person that attempts to donate blood will receive a free coronavirus antibody test (the results can take up to 5 days).

No...I'll go along with it, guess I dislike drs. in general more than the mask.  Wink  Actually, I think it's the "homemade" versions that bother me the most because some of the fabric used doesn't breathe very well. There is another big advantage to wearing a mask, it lets you know if your mouthwash is working. Plus all the tobacco users can now experience that awful tobacco breathe smell the rest of us get when close by.  Grin

The people at the hotel have indicated that the "mask" requirement can be met by anything across the face.  I believe a zub around the neck pulled up over the mouth and nose should suffice.

The IZXX Schedule of Events is posted.  Please pay particular attention to the advisory, "Subject to change, if necessary."

I fully understand and respect anyone's decision to not go based on the out of control drunk with power government mandates, but keep in mind if you back out at this late of a date, you're hurting the VRCC far more than the North Carolina government...

Hope to see many of ya'll in a few weeks..... And sincerely, I respect everyone's decision to do as they feel best... But I really want there to be an Inzane 21 too...

HIPAA only applies to medical personal.  The attitude I'm reading on masks is why I'm thinking of not attending.  Too many people who disregard guidelines.

Recently the New England Journal of Medicine reported that the use of a mask is of little to no value in preventing or protecting against the virus. I've been out and about daily since early this year, if a retailer required a mask I put one on....otherwise I don't wear one. I'm careful, cautious, and pay attention to my surroundings. That was permanently ingrained into my young brain many years ago and I'm quite sure I'm not alone, especially prior military.

I see people foolishly wearing a mask while driving in an enclosed vehicle....alone. Others riding a bicycle out in the open breeze, even saw three on motorcycles roaring down the interstate with masks on. Stupidity reigns supreme amongst certain elements so it seems. So, whlile attending IZ and congregating in/around the hotel & a mask is required, I'll wear one. Once away from the hotel, totally different story. As for contracting the virus, tests have shown that exposure to an infected source at a distance of less than 6' for a period of 15 minutes or more is generally needed. So, I plan to quit showering about Friday the 10th so by the time the Early Bird lunch is on Sunday night, social distancing shouldn't be a problem. Then if I continue throughout the week, my roomie CharlieMac will probably move out.  2funny

John

I have found that wearing the mask on the bike means I dont sneeze into my full face helmet as much
during hay feaver season
 laugh
Whether it helps with gorilla dust remains to be seen

Still planning to leave here 5am and push down to make the early bird dinner
its a boring 725 miles on the 12th.  Hoping for good weather or will leave the next day

As is now may leave for home on the BRP the morning after the pie auction

It's the businesses taking the punishment rather than the individual.  Some businesses have an employee actively standing guard preventing those who are not wearing a mask from entering.  Other businesses (like Sheetz) only have a sign on the door, and will tell you go to back and get your mask.

The medical waiver isn't even really a thing.  Since businesses are taking the fines, denial of services is now extended to mask wear, similar to the "no shirt, no shoes" thing.

If you are not wearing a mask and the business asks you to leave and you refuse, you'll be trespassed, as you would expect to be in that situation.

The New England Journal of Medicine was talking about protecting the person wearing the mask.  The reason for the mask in public it to stop asymptomatic people from spreading to others.  Not a valid study in this case.

Lots of reading there.  Ultimately the important parts say that a person is not required to wear a face covering if a person "should not wear a Face Covering due to any medical or behavioral condition" and "under this Executive Order, all North Carolinians will be on the honor system about whether or not there is a reason why they cannot wear a Face Covering."  Further, "law enforcement personnel are not authorized to criminally enforce the Face Covering requirements of this Executive Order against individual workers, customers, or patrons."
